Natalie White bit her lip, forced a smile, and tried to play the peacemaker.
"Ethan Quinn didn't do it on purpose. For the sake of our years of friendship, I'll apologize for him. How about… we just let this go?"
Stella Sterling: "You'll apologize for him?"
Claire Shawcross: "And who do you think you are?"
Victor Vance: "Are you his fucking mom?"
Stella Sterling and Claire Shawcross shot him a simultaneous sidelong glance. "Don't curse."
Victor Vance chuckled. "Let me rephrase. Natalie White, are you Ethan Quinn's mother? What gives you the right to apologize for him?"
The three friends stood their ground, a united front against the outsider.
Natalie White's face alternated between red and white, like a shifting color palette.
