Roman Rhodes raised a dark brow. "What is it?"
Stella Sterling didn't speak, her expression one of thoughtful scrutiny.
The man was amused. "What are you thinking about now?"
"Thinking… about how many girlfriends you have."
"And what's your conclusion?"
Stella feigned a serious expression. "Hard to say."
The man flicked her forehead with a finger and chuckled. "One of you is more than enough for me to handle. Any more, and I'm afraid I wouldn't be so lucky."
Stella understood his underlying meaning.
Then, adopting the air of a suspicious girlfriend checking up on him, she jutted her chin at his phone. "So… who was that on the phone? Who were you telling to 'stop making a scene'?"
Roman Rhodes offered her the phone. "Want to see?"
"Nope." Stella lifted her chin proudly. "I want to hear it from you."
"A younger member of the family. They're in New York and ran into some trouble. I have to go deal with it."
