Megan Kane lay on the hospital bed, the pungent smell of disinfectant filling her nostrils.
She turned her head and saw the view outside the window.
Rowan Monroe had already turned to leave, not lingering for long.
"You rest up. I'm heading back. It's gotten too dangerous around here."

She felt that aside from trying to stay calm, she had no idea how to resolve this.
'I almost thought something went wrong with my plan and caused this. So it turns out it wasn't my guy after all.'
Megan Kane shook her head, not wanting to say anything more about the situation. It wasn't like her safety had only been compromised for a day or two anyway.
She had long grown accustomed to a life without any guarantee of safety. The most troublesome part of the current situation, however, was figuring out how to even begin to solve it.
