「Inside the room.」
Joyce Monroe had seen her embroidery in Silas Thorne's office and had a hunch he'd had his eye on her for a while, but she never imagined it started so long ago.
Nothing pleasant had happened between them the year she was eighteen.
'Like?'
'Love at first sight?'
She'd always felt such things shouldn't happen to a man as rational and restrained as Silas Thorne. She was still reeling from the revelation that she was his idealized first love, but then Rose Wentworth had to start her rampage, and now Joyce couldn't even bring herself to accept the fact.
"...Impossible! Thorne, you're lying! How could you have liked her all that time ago? I don't believe you!" Rose Wentworth tried to rush over and confront him, but Liam Wentworth yanked her back by the collar. "Let go! Let go of me!"
