Summer Thorne was well aware that Mason Crawford and Laura Thorne were aligned. But with so much happening lately, she had grown almost numb.
But this numbness, born of exhaustion, didn't mean the problem didn't exist.
Sometimes, all it takes is a tipping point.
Like tonight.
On the way back, Summer Thorne had been driving steadily, but her car came to a dead stop in traffic not long after she got on the overpass.
At this hour, the overpass should have been clear. Even during the usual morning and evening rush hours, traffic would still inch forward. A complete standstill like this was rare.
After about ten minutes, drivers from the surrounding cars got out to peer ahead, trying to see what was going on.
Summer Thorne, however, wasn't in a hurry at all.
She sat in her car, listening to the noisy chatter from outside, though she was mostly just spacing out.
If she hadn't glanced at her rearview mirror, she probably wouldn't have noticed she was being followed.
