"I'm not afraid of you making trouble for me," Titus said in a low voice. "I'm afraid you'll make trouble for yourself."
"I told you I wouldn't," Summer said. "Why don't you have a little faith?"
Titus stared at her dubiously for a long moment before taking Summer's arm. "Come on, I'll introduce you to my grandmother."
Since Mrs. Morgan was the guest of honor, all the attendees were lining up to offer their birthday wishes.
Leo Morgan sat beside his mother the whole time, greeting the guests who came and went.
Meanwhile, Summer and Titus moved forward with the crowd, occasionally leaning in to whisper to each other as if they were in a world of their own. Summer would glance up at the passing guests from time to time, but her gaze never once strayed in Leo Morgan's direction.
When they finally reached Mrs. Morgan, Summer politely offered her birthday wishes.
