A sight like this was certainly new.
She had bought this small cottage herself. It was her only sanctuary after everything that had happened.
She never imagined that Mason Crawford would one day appear here.
An indescribable anger welled up inside Summer Thorne.
She let go, leaving the door open, and stared coldly at the man sitting on the sofa. "How did you get in?"
"It wasn't easy," Mason Crawford said. He hadn't even taken off his shoes. He wore no tie, and the top two buttons of his shirt were undone beneath his suit jacket, giving him a lazy, unruly air. When he looked up at Summer Thorne, his eyes were dark and inscrutable. "He's got you set up pretty well. Even has men posted downstairs... What, is he some dangerous figure? Forcing you to live in such constant fear."
At first, Summer Thorne didn't understand what he was talking about. Then, it slowly dawned on her.
'There were people guarding my building?'
That was something Summer Thorne hadn't expected.
