**Infinite Slaughter System**
**Chapter 2: The Path of Power**
Quincy Lennox walked along the narrow stone path that led from the outer disciple grounds toward the central area of the Azure Peak Sect. The evening air felt cool against his skin, and the healing pill had already repaired most of his injuries. His steps were steady now, and the sword he carried rested comfortably in his grip. The three bodies he left behind in the cave would not be discovered until morning, giving him time to prepare.
As he moved, the system voice spoke again inside his head.
[Current location: Azure Peak Sect, outer disciple zone.]
[Host cultivation base: Qi Condensation 1st layer.]
[Reminder: In this world, strength determines survival. Weakness invites death.]
Quincy kept his expression neutral and continued walking. He needed to understand the rules of this new reality quickly. The memories of the original Quincy provided some details, but they were fragmented and incomplete. He focused his thoughts and asked the system a direct question.
"Explain the cultivation power system."
The response came immediately, clear and structured.
[This world operates on a cultivation system powered by spiritual energy known as Qi. Cultivators absorb Qi from the air, spirit stones, pills, and natural resources to strengthen their bodies and advance through distinct realms. Each realm grants significantly greater power, lifespan, and abilities.]
The system listed the main realms in order:
- **Qi Condensation Realm**: The starting stage. Cultivators gather Qi into their dantian, the energy center in the lower abdomen. This realm has nine layers. At the early layers, one can sense Qi and perform basic enhanced strikes. At the peak, attacks carry noticeable force, enough to shatter rock or defeat ordinary humans easily. Most outer disciples remain stuck here for years.
- **Foundation Establishment Realm**: The cultivator condenses their Qi into a stable foundation. This stage marks the true beginning of a martial path. Strength increases dramatically. One can leap greater distances, withstand heavy blows, and channel Qi through weapons or techniques for destructive power. Lifespan extends to around two hundred years. Inner disciples typically reach this level.
- **Core Formation Realm**: Qi compresses into a solid core inside the dantian. This core acts as a powerful engine, allowing continuous Qi flow and advanced techniques. Cultivators at this stage can destroy small buildings with a single strike and fly short distances using Qi. Elders of smaller sects often stand at early or middle Core Formation.
- **Nascent Soul Realm**: The core evolves into a miniature soul infant that can leave the body temporarily. Power reaches a new height. Attacks can level hills, and the cultivator gains resistance to many poisons and illnesses. Lifespan stretches to five hundred years or more. Only the strongest sects have Nascent Soul experts.
Higher realms existed beyond these, but the system noted they were rare in a declining sect like Azure Peak. Advancement required not only accumulated Qi but also suitable resources, techniques, and sometimes breaking through bottlenecks that could cause severe injury or death if failed.
Quincy absorbed the information while keeping his pace even. The system continued.
[Resources are essential. Spirit stones provide pure Qi. Pills accelerate absorption or break bottlenecks. Techniques teach how to shape Qi into attacks, defenses, or movement skills. Without resources, even talented cultivators stall.]
Next, Quincy asked about the sect structure.
[Azure Peak Sect follows a standard hierarchical system common across this continent.]
- **Outer Disciples**: The lowest rank. They perform menial tasks, guard lower areas, and receive minimal resources. Most never advance. They live in basic dormitories and train in public squares. Advancement to inner disciple requires reaching at least the 7th layer of Qi Condensation and passing an annual assessment.
- **Inner Disciples**: They gain better housing, more spirit stones each month, access to better training halls, and personal guidance from lower elders. They represent the sect in minor competitions. Most sit at Foundation Establishment or early Core Formation.
- **Core Disciples**: The elite. They receive direct instruction from high elders, abundant resources, and special techniques. They handle important missions and enjoy high status. Nearly all are at Core Formation or above.
- **Elders**: They manage sect affairs, teach classes, and oversee peaks or departments. Power usually ranges from middle Core Formation to early Nascent Soul. They control resource distribution and enforce rules.
- **Sect Leader and Grand Elders**: The highest authorities. The current Sect Leader stands at late Nascent Soul. Grand Elders are even stronger but rarely appear.
The sect itself was once respected but had declined over the past century due to lost treasures and failed expeditions. It controlled a moderate territory with spirit mines and herb gardens, but rival sects pressed on its borders. Resources were limited, and competition inside the sect was fierce.
Quincy processed this. The original owner had been an outer disciple with average talent, stuck at the 1st layer for over a year. He had accidentally learned of a minor spirit herb cache that Elder Harlan wanted for his own grandson. When the original Quincy refused to hand it over quietly, the elder framed him for theft and ordered his death to silence him and seize the herbs.
Elder Harlan served as an outer sect supervisor. He was at the 5th layer of Core Formation, ambitious and ruthless. He funneled extra resources to his family line and favored disciples while suppressing others who might compete with them. The spirit herb cache could help his grandson break through to Foundation Establishment faster, strengthening Harlan's influence inside the sect. Killing a worthless outer disciple cost him nothing and removed a loose end.
Quincy's eyes narrowed slightly as the memories clarified. That explained the attack. Harlan did not know the system had awakened in this body. The elder believed the problem was already solved.
Quincy reached a quiet clearing near the outer training grounds. A few distant lanterns glowed, but no one was nearby. He stopped and opened the system exchange menu in his mind.
[SP Balance: 265]
[Available Exchanges:]
- Qi Condensation Advancement Pill (advances one layer): 200 SP
- Low-grade Spirit Sword (increases attack power): 150 SP
- Basic Qinggong Movement Technique (improves speed and agility): 80 SP
- Basic Healing Pill: 50 SP (already used)
- Qi Gathering Array Setup (temporary cultivation boost): 120 SP
He considered his options carefully. Advancing his realm would give the biggest immediate gain. With only 265 points, he could buy the advancement pill and still have some left.
"Exchange for the Qi Condensation Advancement Pill," he said silently.
A small green pill appeared in his palm. He swallowed it without hesitation. Energy surged through his meridians. His dantian expanded, and Qi flowed more smoothly. The breakthrough happened quickly, without pain or resistance.
[Advancement successful.]
[Current cultivation: Qi Condensation 2nd layer.]
[SP Balance: 65.]
Quincy tested his new strength by clenching his fist. The air around his hand compressed slightly. He felt faster and more stable. It was a small step, but the system made each step far easier than normal cultivation.
He still had 65 points. Not enough for another major item, but enough to buy a few more healing pills if needed. He decided to save the rest for now.
As he stood there, footsteps approached from the path ahead. Two outer disciples walked into view, chatting casually. They carried training swords and wore the same plain robes as Quincy. One of them noticed him and frowned.
"Hey, isn't that the guy Marcus and the others went to deal with?" the first disciple said.
The second one squinted. "Looks like it. But he's still alive? That means trouble."
They drew their swords and moved to block the path. Quincy remained calm. These two were at the 2nd and 3rd layers of Qi Condensation. Easy targets.
He stepped forward without speaking. The fight was short. He used the basic sword he carried to parry the first attack, then countered with a thrust that pierced the first disciple's shoulder. While the man cried out, Quincy swept the legs of the second and finished both with precise strikes.
Blood pooled on the ground.
[Kill confirmed: Qi Condensation 2nd layer.]
[+70 SP.]
[Kill confirmed: Qi Condensation 3rd layer.]
[+90 SP.]
[Total SP: 225.]
Quincy searched their bodies, took their spirit stones and a small manual on basic sword forms, then dragged the bodies into the bushes. He cleaned his sword and continued toward the outer disciple dormitory. He needed a safe place to rest and plan.
Elder Harlan's order had failed. Soon the elder would learn that Quincy was still alive. When that happened, the conflict would escalate. Quincy intended to be ready. The Infinite Slaughter System had already shown its value. More kills meant more points, and more points meant faster growth.
He entered the simple wooden building that housed outer disciples. Most rooms were empty at this hour. Quincy found an unoccupied corner room, barred the door, and sat down to cultivate. He circulated his Qi according to the basic method in his memories while the system remained silent, waiting for his next command.
His path forward was clear. Grow stronger through slaughter. Eliminate threats. Climb the ranks of the sect until no one could touch him. Elder Harlan would be the first real test.
