Chapter 15 - I Am the Deva Path

When Two Gods Collide

"Good."

"Pain—let me see where your limits lie!"

The fire of battle ignited instantly within Kamizuki Gen.

If he had eyes—

everyone would have seen it—

that flame—

on the verge of eruption.

Equality for All—activated.

Target: Deva Path Pain.

Synchronization complete.

Boom—

The rain fell.

The stagnant storm above—

burst open like a dam collapsing.

Water poured from the heavens.

"…!"

Pain's pupils trembled.

He looked up.

Konan and Orochimaru both felt it—

the shift in the world itself.

Their gazes snapped toward Gen.

Rain slid down his face—

yet something had changed.

He stepped forward.

Pulled the black cane from the ground.

And in that moment—

his presence transformed completely.

The earlier calm confidence—

was gone.

Now—

he stood as if merged with heaven and earth.

Every movement—

like the breathing of the natural order itself.

…Incredible.

Compared to balancing against old man Danzō—

this was on an entirely different level.

Of course—

Danzō was the mud.

And this—

was the sky.

Gen could feel it clearly—

his body—

his strength—

his chakra—

all elevated to an unimaginable state.

Power surged through him.

Limitless.

Overwhelming.

At this moment—

he was the Deva Path.

Konan's voice trembled.

"How can someone… raise their strength to this level… in an instant?"

Orochimaru was stunned.

"…There's no doubt now."

"Kamizuki Gen…"

"…is a true genius."

And immediately—

he regretted it.

Regretted exposing him.

Because if this power was real—

then he had just made an enemy…

no weaker than Pain.

Maybe stronger.

This place—

was no longer safe.

Konan's thoughts raced.

If Gen truly possessed this level of power—

destroying Root was nothing.

Destroying Konoha—

would be trivial.

And if someone like this joined Akatsuki—

then the already unstable organization—

would descend into chaos.

No—

she refused to believe it.

This had to be a trick.

Some unknown technique.

Just like his strange communication ability before.

Orochimaru clung to the same thought.

He had to.

"…He can't be that strong."

"He's too young…"

"…it's impossible."

Pain remained still.

Rain soaked his body—

yet he didn't move.

Unlike the others—

he didn't rely on guesswork.

With the Rinnegan—

he saw clearly.

He felt it.

This world—

had always been under his control.

And yet—

in an instant—

Gen had risen to stand equal with him.

Splitting that control in half.

The energy of heaven and earth—

now favored two.

A second Deva Path—

had appeared.

Pain lowered his gaze.

Locked onto Gen.

This—

was no longer a test.

But he could feel it—

the overwhelming will to fight.

That loneliness.

That hunger.

The solitude of standing at the peak—

with no equal.

"…What have you experienced?"

"What power allows you to stand at my level?"

Pain's voice cut like a blade.

This time—

it wasn't ideology.

It was strength.

Resonance.

Nagato—

stood at the peak of the shinobi world.

Few—

could even approach him.

But now—

the fog had parted.

And beyond the mountain he stood upon—

there was another peak.

And atop it—

stood Kamizuki Gen.

That realization—

ignited something within him.

"Those words…"

"…should be mine."

"Show me your limits."

Pain raised his hand.

Space twisted.

"Almighty Pull."

A terrifying gravitational force erupted.

The rain—

spiraled violently.

Forming a twisting vortex—

drawn toward Pain like a collapsing star.

Anything caught within—

was shredded before reaching him.

Gen did not resist.

He allowed himself—

to be pulled forward.

Of course.

This was the classic sequence—

Almighty Pull—

followed by—

Shinra Tensei.

Against most—

it was unstoppable.

Organs crushed.

Bodies torn apart.

Because gravity—

was beyond ordinary understanding.

But now—

Gen's body—

stood at the same level.

He felt no fear.

"…Shinra—"

Pain began.

And at that exact moment—

"Take this—!!!"

Gen roared.

Mid-air—

he swung.

The black cane—

flooded with chakra—

glowing with deep blue energy—

came crashing down toward Pain's face.

Simple.

Direct.

But containing—

enough raw force to shatter mountains.

Under Equality—

any gap—

was compensated elsewhere.

And this weapon—

was no ordinary cane.

Forged from chakra-conductive metal—

crafted by Konoha's finest—

the best damn "blind cane" in the village.

BOOM—

Space shook.

Pain's pupils shrank.

His invisible forces—

repulsion and attraction—

collided with the strike—

and canceled out.

Simultaneously—

Gen landed.

Water exploded beneath his feet.

No retreat.

Only advance.

Another swing—

faster.

Heavier.

The cane howled through the air—

leaving afterimages—

tearing at space itself.

Pain saw it clearly.

That trajectory.

That speed.

That power.

Equal.

Completely equal.

In that instant—

Nagato felt a flicker of relief.

Good thing—

he hadn't sent Konan.

That strike—

she wouldn't have survived it.

But—

you have a weapon?

So do I.

A black rod slid from Pain's sleeve.

He caught it in his hand—

and met the attack head-on.

The clash—

was inevitable.
