The night was unusually quiet.
After everything that had happened, Rin had expected another disaster.
A crack in the sky. A System warning. A demon army.
Perhaps even another ancient being appearing to tell him that he wasn't ready for something.
Instead, nothing happened. The moon remained high above the forest.
The wind moved gently through the trees. For once, there were no voices.
Rin sat alone on the balcony outside his room, resting his arms against the railing.
He couldn't sleep too many things had changed in a single day.
His mother had finally told him part of the truth. Sol had learned that becoming the System had been an act of protection, not punishment.
Noctis had accepted that Rin wasn't the same person he had loved.
And Kaelith... Rin stopped that thought.
He wasn't ready to think about Kaelith. Not yet.
He looked toward the sky.
"I wonder what you were like."
He wasn't sure whether he meant his father. His former self. Or the God. Perhaps all three.
