The archive doors slammed shut.
The sound echoed through the underground palace like a declaration and for several seconds, nobody moved.
The crystal in front of Sol continued to glow. Their father's voice had stopped after those final words.
"...perhaps it's time you both learned why I had to disappear."
Rin stared at the crystal.
Then at Sol. Sol stared back. Neither of them spoke.
The palace trembled again. Dust fell from the ceiling.
Kaelith immediately moved toward Rin, placing himself between him and the sealed entrance.
Noctis looked toward the corridor they had come through. Eryon remained completely still.
Rin finally broke the silence.
"Well."
Sol looked at him.
"Well what?"
Rin pointed at the crystal.
"Our father really knows how to make an entrance."
Sol sighed.
"Apparently."
Another tremor shook the room. Rin looked toward the sealed doors.
"Are we trapped?"
Kaelith examined the stone.
"For the moment."
"Great."
Rin looked back at the crystal.
