"Found you."
The voice wasn't loud. It didn't need to be. It came from everywhere.
From the sky. From the ground. From inside Rin's own head.
His blood ran cold. For one terrible second, he couldn't move.
Then—
The world exploded. Light swallowed the fortress.
Rin felt Kaelith's hand around his wrist as the Demon General pulled him backward.
"Rin!"
"I'M TRYING!"
The ground disappeared beneath them. Rin screamed. Kaelith cursed.
Something enormous crashed into the courtyard behind them, sending a shockwave through the fortress.
Rin was thrown forward. He lost Kaelith's hand.
"Kaelith!"
A wall of white light separated them. Rin stumbled through the smoke.
"Kaelith?!"
Nothing.
"KAELITH!"
"Rin!"
That voice came from somewhere else. Noctis. Rin turned.
A figure emerged through the smoke. Long silver hair whipped violently around his face. His black clothes were torn at the shoulders, and blood ran down one side of his face.
