Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Arthur's POV.

With everyone being geared up and ready to go, we didn't waste any time and headed out– we've got a whole squadron to save and wasting any more time would mean more people will die and more plague zombies will be added to the horde.

I already had their location lock and it's quite far from our area of activity so we decided to take a short cut that will lead us straight towards them though from the route we're taking will lead us directly above them.

[Warning: Warp energy and activity are increasing as you draw closer to your target. Caution is advised.]

Yeah I can see that. I'll warn Vera to be careful when she uses her powers. There's a chance that daemons will be swarming the area too so keep a close eye on them great sage.

[Answer: Affirmative.]

My conversation with great sage didn't take up even a second.

"Vera. I'm sure you can already sense the increasing warp energy in the area, take caution when you use your powers."

Vera turned towards me and nodded her head solemnly, showing she took my warning to heart. I nodded in approval as I turned towards the others.

"Everyone we're drawing closer to the location so be on your guard and watch each other's backs out there."

Everyone nodded as they moved closer into formation and we increased our pace. The next couple of minutes were spent in silence as everyone was on guard and then suddenly Trissy stopped and unloaded the back-sized vox and put it on the ground. We also stopped and looked at her, she didn't say anything for a few moments before she turned towards us and said with a grim tone.

"Morris has contacted headquarters asking for reinforcements again and his request was denied."

"What!? How could they do that!?"

Jake responded in anger and frustration at hearing that his former captain was refused, his anger was valid especially with what Trissy has said next. It even got the rest of us to frown.

"The person on the other side said that their guardsmen are busy. At least that's the Morris heard– since boss's vox is more advanced then theirs I was able listen more on what they said and apparently their plan is to sacrifice the 6th squadron to buy themselves more time to escape."

"Tsk."

I clicked my tongue in annoyance. This means that we'll have to get there quick before they're killed but at our current pace we won't make it. I can already see that Jake has figured that out judge by the anger, desparation and despair oozing out of him.

Sigh. The things I do for my minions.

"Everyone I'll go on ahead of you guys and stall for time for the rest of you to arrive. Trissy after I'm gone try contacting Captain Morris to inform him that were on our way."

"Yes sir."

"Jake. Lappland. Vera. You three are in charge while I'm gone."

"Yes sir."

"No problem boss, I'll keep them safe."

"I'll do my best to live up to your expectations boss."

After receiving their response, I nodded and ran ahead. I used warp energy to reinforce myself and increased my speed. Once again the perks of having the six eyes show themselves– with perfect energy control I had surgical precision in how I boosted my body without injuring myself. With a significant boost in my speed, I crossed a vast distance in a matter of a seconds and then I arrived and what I saw was a grim sight.

I thought I've seen shit the past week and a half after killing people, crazy mutants and zombies but nothing like this. I saw an almost endless horde of zombies and poxwalkers, hundreds of thousands of them walking, groaning and spewing disgusting pus filled with diseases and viruses. Their very presence is contaminating the air and increasing the volume of warp energy. This large amount of warp energy has attracted countless daemons in the warp and I can feel many of them crowding around my soul, salivating while staring at it, their hunger and need to cause torment to it sent shivers down my spine. It was overwhelming to see and feel everything that was happening but I pushed all those feelings to a different thought process and I looked towards the large group of soldiers defending themselves from the horde.

I took out my vox and contacted Trissy. I need to know of she already made contact with Captain Morris before I take further action.

"Trissy I've arrived at the location, have you got into contact with Captain Morris?"

"Boss!? Your already there? Ahem.. yes boss I've already made contact with him and he accepted our help."

"Yes I'm already here, now patch me in– I need to speak to him."

"Yes boss."

—shhh–crk—

I didn't have to wait that long as a few moments later I was patched in.

"This is Arthur, leader of The Outcasts, captain Morris– if you don't want any of your man to die then I suggest you move them away from the blast zone before I take action–"

I switched the vox transmission back to my team and asked them how far they are and how long do they think their going to take.

"Boss, we're still far but from my estimation then we're 10 minutes away from reaching your location."

"Good. 10 minutes is enough time. Okay then I'll see you guys in ten."

I drop the vox transmission and watched as the soldiers retreat. Some stayed behind to give their comrades some time to get away while others died retreating or defending. Once I saw that they're far enough, I started my act.

Let's begin!

3rd POV.

Arthur watched the horde chase after the retreating soldiers and raised his arm as lightening started shooting out of his hand and into the sky above the soldiers. He drew in a large amounts of warp energy from to fuel this and with precise manipulation of the lightening, he shaped it into a large beastial form with red eyes.

He looked at the horde and lowered his and said–

"Begone with the thunderclap, KIRIN!"

And then everything went white, followed by a resounding–

—Bang!!—

And silence. The horde of hundreds of thousands of zombies had been reduced, close to half of its initial number and more are dying due the the residual lightening. Arthur looked at the result of his attack and broke out into cold sweat for a bit– he didn't know he was this powerful and he now understood why the imperium killed rogue psykers without mercy, they're disasters in the making. He shoved that thought to another thought stream, now is no time to think about the consequences of his actions. He looked down towards where the 6th squadron is and saw they're shocked faces– yep I'm fucked– he jumped down and dived towards them.

He didn't take that long to reach the ground and slowed down he's landing with telekinesis. Arthur walked towards the group of soldiers who were close to the blast and were still alive and helped them up while behind him his lasguns when to work and started gunning down the coming horde of plague bearers. He took time to heal each of them and they joined him in his efforts of finding and helping the others and by then a couple of minutes have passed and the soldiers resumed their duties and started shooting and help thin the horde under my command.

"SOLDIERS LINE UP AND START SHOOTING WHILE THE ENEMY IS DISORIENTED!"

""SIR YES SIR!!""

__☆__

Arthur's POV.

They didn't question who I was or what happened, they just took this chance to start killing their enemies. Grieving can come later, not now while the enemies are still at large.

I walked deeper into the war camp and passed by many soldiers who looked like they wanted to question me but they didn't, I then saw a hard faced man wearing flak armour standing next to a vox-caster staring right at me like he want to pierce through my helmet and see who the fuck I am but he didn't. He just walked up to me and met me mid way through.

"Arthur?"

I nodded and questioned him back–

"Captain Morris?"

He nodded and gestured me to follow him towards the front lines, he's geared up and ready to kill some heretic scum I guess. I followed him with out a word as multiple golden portals opened up behind me and multiple Lasguns stuck out and were ready to shoot. Morris didn't say or show anything that implied he was shocked but I could feel it, he was shocked and scared.

"I have a lot of questions to ask but now is not the right time, at the very least what I can do is thank you for laying waste to half of the horde and saving my men."

"Your welcome. Now then what do you say we kill these heretic scum."

"You took the words right out of my mouth."

"SOLDIERS REINFORCEMENTS HAVE ARRIVED FROM UNLIKELY ALLIES AND HAVE LAID WASTE TO THESE HERETIC SCUM!! NOWS OUR CHANCE TO EXTREMINATE THEM ALL!! AVENGER OUR COMRADES, OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS!! MAKE SURE THERES NO ONE LEFT ALIVE!!"

"""YAAAH!!!""""
