Chapter 6 - chapter 6: Secrets And Shadows

The sun had set over Will Stone Academy, leaving the campus bathed in orange and violet twilight. The day's obstacle course had ended hours ago, but Odin found himself restless. He wandered toward the quiet garden behind the school, where the path was lit faintly by lamps.

To his surprise, Luna was already there, walking slowly, staring at the flowers along the path. She hadn't noticed him yet.

"Hey," Odin said softly, careful not to startle her.

Luna turned, smiling faintly. "Oh… hi."

He fell into step beside her. The silence between them felt comfortable, almost natural.

"You walk here often?" Luna asked.

Odin shrugged. "Sometimes. I like quiet. Helps me think."

She nodded. "I get that. It's… peaceful."

They walked slowly along the gravel path, the air cool and the leaves rustling gently in the evening breeze. Odin kept his hands at his sides, the box on his head catching the soft light from the lamps.

"You did well today," Luna said, breaking the silence. "The obstacle course… you helped a lot."

Odin shifted slightly. "Thanks. I just… try to be useful." His voice was calm, but his fingers tightened slightly at his sides.

Luna glanced at him. "You were… always watching out for everyone. Especially me."

Odin's chest tightened. She noticed… he thought. "I… I guess I care," he admitted quietly.

Luna's steps slowed. "I noticed," she said softly, looking at him through the small holes in the box. "And… I'm glad."

For a moment, they walked in silence again, only the sound of gravel underfoot and the occasional rustle of leaves.

Then Luna spoke again. "Do you ever… think about what comes next? After school, I mean."

Odin hesitated. "Sometimes. I think… about trying new things… and people. Friends. The people I care about."

Luna smiled faintly. "I think about that too." She looked up at the stars. "It's nice… being able to walk and just talk without anyone else around."

Odin nodded. "Yeah… I like this."

Back in the dorm, the rest of Group One was finishing chores and organizing for the next day.

Daniel, still wearing his own box from earlier projects, glanced out the window. He saw shadows moving along the garden path. His heart sank slightly as he noticed Luna walking with Odin.

Brian nudged Dimitris. "Hey… isn't that Luna and Odin out there?"

Dimitris shrugged. "Seems like it."

Renée smirked. "I see how it is… Daniel, you okay?"

Daniel said nothing, his hands fidgeting on the box. He felt a mix of nerves and something he couldn't quite name.

Meanwhile, Luna and Odin had reached a small bench near the edge of the garden. They sat down side by side, leaving a comfortable space between them.

"Do you… ever wonder if people notice everything?" Luna asked quietly.

Odin tilted his box slightly. "Like what?"

"Like… little things. How someone cares. Or notices you," she said. Her voice was soft, almost a whisper.

Odin looked at her through the holes in the box. "I notice," he said simply.

Luna smiled. Her hand brushed against his slightly as she adjusted her scarf. "I think… I like that."

Odin felt a strange warmth in his chest. He didn't respond, just nodded. They stayed there, watching the stars and listening to the soft sounds of the night, sharing a quiet moment that felt bigger than words.

Meanwhile, back at the dorm, Daniel couldn't stop thinking about the day. He replayed the obstacle course in his mind, thinking about Luna, and now, seeing her walk with Odin stirred feelings he hadn't fully processed.

I need to… show her who I really am, he thought, tightening his hands on his box.

The night grew deeper, and shadows stretched across the campus. Secrets, feelings, and small sparks of connection hovered over Group One, shaping friendships and rivalries in ways none of them fully understood
