The sun was high over Will Stone Academy, and the students of Class 7B were gathering for another day of lessons and practice.
Daniel, the boy with the box on his head, walked quietly behind the group. His steps were careful, measured. Inside the box, his hands fidgeted, his heart beating faster every time Luna laughed or spoke beside him.
The group moved across the courtyard: Luna, Renée, Amani, Brian, Dimitris, and Odin. Each had their usual energy—Renée was animatedly telling a story about yesterday's football match, Brian tripping over a small rock, Dimitris rolling his eyes at Brian, and Amani quietly making sure everyone stayed organized. Odin followed silently near Luna, glancing at her with subtle curiosity.
Daniel stayed slightly behind them, observing everything, but mostly watching Luna.
---
When the group reached the grassy field under the big tree, they all sat down to take a break.
Renée flopped on the grass dramatically. "Ugh! Yesterday's match… I still can't believe that goal!"
Brian laughed. "Yeah, but Dimitris almost tripped himself into the goal!"
Dimitris crossed his arms, frowning. "It was strategic… I was distracting the other team."
Amani shook her head with a small smile. "You're all ridiculous."
Odin sat quietly near Luna, watching her as she adjusted her hair and laughed lightly at Renée's jokes.
Daniel stayed a few steps behind, clutching his notebook. He wanted to speak, wanted to say something he had been thinking about for days—but the words always seemed stuck inside the box that hid his face.
Finally, Amani noticed him.
"Daniel… you've been awfully quiet today," she said softly.
Daniel froze. He hesitated, then muttered, "I… I'm fine."
"You don't sound fine," Luna said gently. She tilted her head, her eyes curious. "Are you sure?"
Daniel's hands fidgeted on the sides of the box. He wanted to take it off, to finally show her, but he wasn't ready.
"I… I like helping," he said slowly, unsure if the words even made sense.
Luna raised an eyebrow. "Helping?"
Daniel nodded, swallowing hard. "I… I like helping people. And… sometimes, I like watching how people do things." He paused. "And… I like watching you."
For a moment, no one said anything. Brian dropped his sandwich, Dimitris blinked, and even Renée stopped laughing.
"You… like me?" Luna asked softly, unsure if she had heard correctly.
Daniel nodded again. "I… I like you, Luna. I've liked you for a while… I just… I don't know how to say it without… without messing it up."
The group stayed quiet for a moment, letting the words sink in.
Renée whispered to Amani, "Finally… the mysterious boy with the box actually said something!"
Brian laughed softly. "It's about time he opened up!"
Dimitris shook his head with a grin. "I did not see that coming."
Odin, sitting nearby, noticed the small smile Luna gave Daniel. He crossed his arms, feeling a strange mix of surprise and something he couldn't quite name.
Luna reached out and touched the edge of the box gently. "Thank you for telling me, Daniel. I… I'm glad you trust me."
Daniel felt warmth flood his chest. The box that had always felt like a shield suddenly felt like a bridge.
---
The bell rang, signaling the start of class, but Daniel and Luna walked together, quietly talking while the others laughed and argued behind them.
As they reached the classroom, Renée nudged Amani. "Looks like Daniel finally has a crush. Who knew he'd actually say it?"
Amani chuckled. "I think he's been building up to it."
Brian whispered to Dimitris, "I can't believe he actually confessed… through that box of all things."
Dimitris smirked. "Some people need a little extra armor."
Odin, noticing Daniel's nervous glances at Luna, felt a twinge of something unfamiliar. He smiled faintly but decided not to say anything.
During the lessons, Daniel found himself quietly helping Luna with small things—passing her a pencil, pointing out a correction on her notes, or just offering small smiles from behind the box.
Luna noticed, and she smiled back each time. It was subtle, but it spoke louder than words.

After school, Group One went outside to test some experiments for their teamwork project.
Renée and Brian set up cones for their activities. Dimitris measured distances with precision. Amani wrote observations.
Luna and Daniel worked side by side. She carefully arranged the materials while Daniel adjusted them when needed.
"Be careful with that sensor," Luna said.
Daniel leaned closer, just enough to brush his hands against hers. He felt a nervous flutter but didn't pull away. "Got it," he murmured, his voice muffled slightly inside the box.
For a moment, Luna's eyes met his through the box's holes. There was something unspoken in that glance—trust, curiosity, and a little spark.
Odin watched quietly from across the table. He noticed Daniel's attention toward Luna and realized that the boy with the box was not just skilled at observing—he was starting to show his heart.
By the end of the day, the experiments were completed perfectly. The poster and the notes were ready, and Group One looked proud.
As they packed up, Daniel stayed near Luna, hands fidgeting inside the box, but eyes steady on her.
She smiled at him again. "Thank you… for helping today," she said softly.
Daniel nodded, a small smile visible even through the box. I want her to see who I am… one day, he thought.
And for the first time, he realized:
The box wasn't just hiding him. It was holding the secret of his heart—and now, he had shared it.
