Alpha Mason's POV
"Alpha, Alpha!"
Dennis's voice pierced through my concentration. I sighed, leaning back in my chair. "Come in, Dennis," I called out.
The door creaked open, and my Beta stepped inside. "Good morning, Alpha."
I waved off his greetings impatiently. "Dennis, have you reviewed the paperwork I gave you?"
"Yes, Alpha," he replied.
"Good. Then what do you want?" My tone was curt.
Dennis hesitated, shifting on his feet. "Umm... Miss Jessica is here to see you."
Jessica. What the hell? My jaw clenched. "What is she doing in the human world?" I asked, my irritation growing.
"I... don't know, Alpha. She specifically requested to see you."
I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Fine. Let her in."
Dennis nodded and quickly left the room. Five minutes later, he returned with her.
Jessica strolled in like she owned the place, her heels clicking against the floor. "Good morning, Alpha," she purred.
"What are you doing here?" I snapped, cutting her off before she could start her usual games.
"Come on, Mason," she teased, ignoring my glare. "Aren't you happy to see me?"
"Cut to the chase, Jessica," I said sharply. "Why are you here?"
She raised an eyebrow and glanced at Dennis. "Can we have some privacy?"
Dennis didn't move a muscle, his gaze fixed on me.
"Dennis, leave us," I ordered.
With a reluctant nod, he exited the office, closing the door behind him.
Jessica stepped closer, a coy smile playing on her lips. "Alpha," she began, "you still haven't found your mate. And you know the rules if you don't have a mate soon, you'll lose your position as Alpha."
I narrowed my eyes. "And what exactly are you suggesting?"
She straightened, her voice softening. "Why not make me your mate? Marry me and keep your throne."
A cold chuckle escaped me. "What makes you think I'd marry you when you're not my fated mate?"
Her smile faltered, but she pushed on. "Because you don't have a mate. Maybe the Moon Goddess destined us to be together. I don't have a mate either. Doesn't it make sense?"
"Get out," I growled, my patience wearing thin.
"What?"
"I said, get out." My tone was ice. "Go back to the pack. If you have anything to discuss with me, wait until I return. I don't want to see you in the human world again."
"But, Mason"
"Leave!" I roared, my Alpha tone echoing in the room.
Her eyes widened in fear, and without another word, she fled. The office door slammed shut behind her, leaving me in blessed silence.
