Chapter 4 - chapter 4

Alpha Mason POV

How dare she come into the human world, wandering around, leaving the pack and putting herself at risk? She's lucky I didn't release Mars to the surface she could have been dead meat by now.

"Mars, stay in control. Play. You're disturbing me in my head," I muttered, trying to calm the wolf inside me.

Mars: You could have handled her yourself! I hate her! How dare she come so close!

I clenched my jaw. "Mars, calm down," I growled under my breath. I needed to think clearly. I couldn't afford to lose control not now. We need a walk. A perfect place to shift. I need to release you.

I gave the order. "Dennis, clear my schedule for the day. I'll be back."

I walked without caring where my steps led, only knowing I needed a secluded spot to shift, somewhere I could let Mars out without interference.

And then I smelled it.

Mate… mate! Mars leapt in my mind, wild with excitement.

I saw her the stranger. Someone had tried to harass her. My blood boiled. I lunged, teeth bared, and threatened the man. He ran without a second glance. My mate also ran, startled, but I didn't follow immediately. I couldn't risk scaring her, and frustratingly, I still couldn't fully perceive her wolf.

Her scent… it was intoxicating, undeniable. She is mine. My wolf roared in delight, pacing and twisting inside my mind. I clenched my fists. Calm, Mason. Calm. But the pull… it was relentless.

I could feel her heartbeat, her fear, her energy everything about her was screaming at me. I wanted to find her, to make sure she was safe, to claim what was mine. But I had to restrain Mars, and restrain myself. She couldn't know… not yet.

I shifted my weight, letting the wolf stir beneath my skin, feeling the power coiling like a spring. The air around me tingled as Mars flexed, eager, demanding. I had never felt a pull like this, not with any human, not with any wolf.

And yet, here she was. My mate. The first glimpse of her, fleeting, and already enough to ignite a fire in me I couldn't ignore.

I exhaled slowly, fighting to steady my pulse. The city streets were quiet again, but I knew she was out there. Somewhere. And Mars wouldn't let me rest until I found her.
