Chapter 35 - Chapter-34 : The Insider Speaks

The student trembled, pale and twitching, their faint shadow energy flickering like a dying candle. The library felt heavier, as if the walls themselves were holding their breath.

Sarah stepped forward, cube glowing faintly. "We don't know who—or what—you are. But we need answers. Slowly. Calmly. No sudden moves."

Lara spun her chair dramatically, pointing at the student. "Step one: heroic interrogation! Step two: comedic questioning! Step three: optional snacks… maybe as a bribe?"

Felix groaned. "Step four: why is my life officially chaos central?"

The student finally spoke, voice trembling. "I… I'm Jonah. I came here weeks ago… the school… it… changed me. Shadows… they… they control me sometimes. I see… things… things the faceless creature plans."

Mira's glow flared, hands hovering near Jonah. "I can sense fragments of his connection. It's weak but… significant. The faceless creature uses him as a scout of sorts."

Emily whispered, "So he's being controlled, but not completely?"

Chloe nodded. "Exactly. He could be a double-edged sword—helpful if we gain his trust, dangerous if he panics."

Lara spun, chair pointed skyward. "Step four: epic trust-building! Step five: dramatic persuasion! Step six: snacks… later!"

Felix muttered, "Step seven: I swear, I'm slowly losing my sanity."

Sarah took a deep breath. "Jonah, we want to help you. But we need all the information you can safely give us. What do you know about the faceless creature's plans?"

Jonah's eyes flickered with shadow energy. "It… it wants… control. Not just the school… the students… even people outside… I've seen… plans… traps… the creature learns from every attack you make… it adapts… faster each time."

Kai frowned, scanning his chalk diagrams. "So the creature isn't just reactive—it's proactive. It's shaping the environment and using spies like Jonah to anticipate our moves."

Mira leaned closer, glow soft but steady. "I can connect to him more deeply… but if I push too far, it might sense me through him. Still… he can help us predict movements, anticipate strategies. We need him as an asset, cautiously."

Lara twirled, chair spinning. "Step eight: comedic espionage! Step nine: heroic alliance! Step ten: snacks… obviously later, after epic heroics!"

Felix groaned. "Step eleven: why is every plan chaos incarnate?"

I looked around at the team, adrenaline mixing with hope. Jonah wasn't fully controlled—he could help us. But trusting someone partially linked to the faceless creature carried risks.

Sarah clenched the cube. "This changes our strategy. With Jonah's insight, we can anticipate some attacks—but one misstep, one panic reaction, and we're giving the school—and the faceless creature—an advantage."

Mira exhaled, glowing faintly. "We have a chance. But the next encounter… will test trust, coordination, and our ability to handle chaos… hilariously or otherwise."

Lara collapsed dramatically onto her chair. "Step twelve: epic victory… maybe? Step thirteen: snacks! Eventually!"

Felix muttered, "Step fourteen: sanity… lost forever."

And so, with Jonah cautiously on our side, the fight against Noorwood High and the faceless creature was about to enter its most unpredictable—and dangerous—phase yet.
