Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

Cecil ran through the forest, thinking he was free.

Then, suddenly, he collapsed to the ground.

An intense pain shot through his body, sharp and overwhelming. He gasped, and blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.

No… no… not now… he thought, panic and fear surging through him.

He tried to stand, but his legs wouldn't obey. Every breath burned, and the forest around him seemed to spin.

Somewhere far away, the Grand Duke's voice echoed in his mind, calm and cold: "You can't escape me, little one…"

Cecil's ears flattened. I… I have to survive…

---

Cecil groaned, his tiny fox body trembling as pain coursed through him. Blood stained his fur, and every movement felt impossible.

I… I can't die here… not like this… he thought, struggling to lift himself.

The forest was silent around him, but he could feel it — a presence, cold and sharp, watching him.

"You're hurting yourself," a voice whispered in his mind. Calm. Dangerous. Unyielding.

Cecil's ears twitched. It's him… he's here…

The Grand Duke stepped from the shadows, his black mist form solidifying as he approached. His eyes glimmered with that same dangerous curiosity.

"Why do you struggle so much?" he asked softly. "It's futile… you cannot run from me."

Cecil's body shook, but he lifted his head, eyes blazing with defiance. I won't… belong to anyone… not him, not the Crown Duke Prince… not anyone!

The Grand Duke crouched slightly, studying him. "Strong-willed… fascinating," he murmured. "Good. I like that."

Cecil's paws dug into the earth. He forced himself to stand, trembling and bleeding, ready to test his fox powers again.

I'll survive… I have to…

---

Cecil's body shook, but he forced himself to move.

He concentrated, his fox powers surging, and lunged at the Grand Duke, teeth bared and claws ready.

But the effort was too much. Pain and exhaustion overwhelmed him, and he collapsed mid-attack.

He fell straight into the Grand Duke's waiting arms.

The Grand Duke caught him effortlessly, holding him close. His eyes glimmered with that same dangerous, calm curiosity.

"Still so stubborn…" he whispered softly, almost amused. "You really want to fight me, little one?"

Cecil's tiny body trembled, completely unconscious in the Grand Duke's grasp.

---

Three days had passed, and Cecil still hadn't woken up.

Back in the palace, the Crown Duke Prince was furious. His face burned with rage, and his fists clenched tightly.

"I don't care where he is!" he shouted at the guards. "Find him! Every path, every corner… I don't care! That brat cannot escape me!"

Even Crown Prince Vincent looked frustrated, pacing in the hall. "He won't stay hidden forever. Just make sure he doesn't get away."

The palace was in chaos, every guard on high alert, but Cecil remained far away, still unconscious, in the Grand Duke's care.

---

Back in the Grand Duke's chamber.

Cecil's eyelids fluttered. Light filtered through the curtains, and for a moment, he couldn't remember where he was.

Where… am I? he thought, his mind foggy.

He tried to move, but his body felt heavy, weak from the past three days. A sharp pang of pain made him hiss quietly.

From the corner of the room, the Grand Duke watched silently, his sharp eyes never leaving him. "Ah… finally," he whispered, a faint smile on his lips. "You're awake."

Cecil's chest heaved as he tried to sit up, panic rising. What… what is he going to do to me?

The Grand Duke stepped closer, calm, almost gentle, yet there was something dangerous in his gaze. "Don't be afraid," he said softly. "You're safe… for now."

Cecil's ears flattened. Safe…? I don't know if I believe that.

Cecil tried to sit up, but his body trembled. His chest heaved, and sweat ran down his face.

"Where… where am I?" he whispered, his voice weak but edged with fear.

The Grand Duke's eyes gleamed as he stepped closer, calm and unyielding. "You're with me," he said softly. "Safe… and yet, not free."

Cecil's ears flattened. Not free…? What does he mean by that? Panic surged through him.

"I… I don't belong to anyone," Cecil stammered, trembling. "Not the Crown Duke Prince… not you… not anyone!"

The Grand Duke's lips curved into a slow, knowing smile. "No one belongs to anyone," he murmured, his voice low and dangerous. "But you… you will be mine in time. And you'll see why."

Cecil's heart pounded. He wanted to run, to fight, but his body was too weak. He realized, with a mix of fear and disbelief, that escaping this man wouldn't be easy — if it was even possible.

The Grand Duke crouched slightly, studying him like a predator watching its prey. "Rest for now," he whispered. "You'll need all your strength… for what's coming."

Cecil's ears twitched, and he pressed himself against the floor. What… what is he planning?

---

Cecil lay on the floor, his body still trembling. Every nerve in him screamed to run, to escape, but he couldn't move.

The Grand Duke circled him slowly, his sharp eyes drinking in every detail. "So stubborn," he murmured, voice low and dangerous. "Even weak… you fight me with your thoughts."

Cecil's ears flattened. Thoughts… he reads my mind? Panic surged again, mixing with the lingering pain in his body.

The Grand Duke crouched in front of him, his hand hovering just above Cecil's head, not touching, but close enough to make him shiver. "Your powers… fascinating," he whispered. "So much energy, so much fire. You've barely begun to understand it… or control it."

Cecil's eyes widened. He knows… he knows about the fox power… He tried to hide the trembling in his paws, but it was useless.

The Grand Duke smiled faintly, a dangerous, calm smile. "Rest now… you'll need all your strength for what comes next. And believe me," he leaned just slightly closer, "I will teach you… whether you like it or not."

Cecil shivered violently, torn between fear and anger. I… I will never belong to anyone… not him, not the Crown Duke Prince… never!

The Grand Duke's eyes glimmered, almost amused. "We shall see, little one… we shall see."
