Chapter 4 - Chapter 3

Cecil collapsed in the woods, his tiny fox body trembling. His chest heaved as he tried to catch his breath.

"I'm free…" he whispered, his voice small and shaky. "At least… for now."

The wind rustled through the trees, carrying the scent of the palace far behind him. He pressed himself against a tree, ears twitching at every sound. Every snap of a twig, every rustle of leaves made his heart race.

Somewhere, far away, the Grand Duke sat in his chamber. His sharp eyes glimmered as he heard the faint cry of the fox.

"Finally… got ya," he whispered, a slow, dangerous smile spreading across his face.

---

Back in the palace, the Crown Duke Prince was furious. He ordered every single guard to search every corner of the palace — and the woods beyond.

"Find him! Every place, every path… I don't care how long it takes," he barked. His eyes burned with obsession. "He will not escape me."

---

In the woods, Cecil couldn't take it anymore. His tiny fox body trembled, and then he fainted.

Somewhere far away, the Grand Duke sat in his chamber. A slow, dangerous smile spread across his face.

In an instant, he transformed into a black mist, vanishing from the room.

The next moment, the same black mist appeared in the woods, surrounding Cecil's unconscious body.

Before anyone could see, the Grand Duke had taken Cecil away.

---

Cecil slowly stirred, his tiny fox body still weak. He opened his eyes to find himself in a luxurious dark but quiet room. The air smelled faintly of incense and something sharp, like power.

He tried to move, but his paws felt heavy, like he had been drugged. Panic filled him.

Where… am I? he thought, trembling. What's happening?

A shadow shifted in the corner of the room. The Grand Duke stepped forward, his form solid again. His piercing eyes fixed on Cecil.

"You can't run from me," he said softly, almost a whisper, yet it filled the entire room.

Cecil's ears flattened. He wanted to escape, but his body wouldn't obey.

The Grand Duke crouched slightly, studying him like a predator studying its prey.

"You are mine," he said quietly, his voice calm but dangerous. "And now… you have nowhere to hide."

Cecil shivered, his thoughts racing.

"No… no… no! I-I don't belong to anyone. Not the Crown Duke Prince… and not him!"

He tried to scramble away, but his tiny fox body was too weak. His chest heaved as fear and anger battled inside him.

The Grand Duke's eyes gleamed, calm and unyielding. "Belonging isn't a choice, little one," he whispered, his voice soft but dangerous.

Cecil froze, the words cutting into him like ice.

What… did he just read my mind? Who the hell is this guy really?

His tiny fox body trembled, fear and confusion mixing with the anger rising inside him.

The Grand Duke's piercing eyes stayed locked on him, calm and unyielding, as if he could see every secret thought, every hidden fear.

Cecil realized… this man was no ordinary person. And now, there was no escaping him.

---

Cecil took a shaky breath.

Suddenly, the pain and energy surged through him again. His tiny fox body began to shimmer and change.

In moments, he transformed back into his normal self — a boy, trembling and wide-eyed, standing before the Grand Duke.

He stared at the man, heart pounding. Who… who is he really?

---

Back in the palace, the Crown Duke Prince and Crown Prince Vincent searched everywhere.

"That little brat is done for," the Crown Duke Prince growled.

"I won't go easy on him either," Vincent said coldly, his eyes burning with anger.

The Crown Duke Prince and Vincent moved through every corridor, every room, and every hidden passage of the palace.

"Check the gardens! Check the woods!" the Crown Duke Prince barked to the guards. "He can't have gone far!"

Vincent's face was cold, his hands clenched into fists. "He's ours. Don't let him out of your sight."

Meanwhile, Cecil sat in the Grand Duke's chamber, still trembling from his transformation back into a boy. He looked around nervously, realizing how alone and exposed he really was.

The Grand Duke watched him quietly, his sharp eyes never leaving Cecil. "Relax," he said softly, but there was a dangerous edge in his voice. "You're safe… for now."

Cecil swallowed hard, unsure whether to trust the man who had taken him. Safe… but why do I feel like I'm in even more danger?

Outside, the shouts of guards echoed faintly through the palace walls. The chase was far from over.

---

Cecil hugged his knees, still trembling. His heart raced every time the faint sounds of the palace reached the chamber — the guards shouting, the footsteps of the Crown Duke Prince and Vincent searching for him.

The Grand Duke walked slowly around the room, his gaze never leaving Cecil. "You have a lot of fire in you," he said softly. "I can see why everyone wants you… but running won't save you."

Cecil's eyes widened. Why does he know so much about me? How does he know what I'm thinking?

The Grand Duke crouched slightly, lowering himself to Cecil's level. "You're strong… clever… and yet, so fragile. Fascinating."

Cecil shivered and tried to stand, but his legs felt weak. "I-I'm not yours!" he stammered, his voice shaking.

The Grand Duke's lips curved into a slow, knowing smile. "Not yet," he whispered. "But you will be… in time."

Outside, the sounds of the palace grew louder. Guards were nearing the woods, their shouts echoing.

Cecil's mind raced. I have to escape… I can't let anyone control me… not him, not the Crown Duke Prince, not anyone.

The Grand Duke watched him carefully, as if he could see every thought. "Run if you like," he said softly. "It only makes the game more… interesting." he said smirking.

Cecil's chest heaved as he backed toward the window. His small, trembling hands pressed against the frame. I have to get out… I can't stay here…

The Grand Duke's calm voice followed him. "Where do you think you're going?"

Cecil's ears flattened, panic rising. Without another thought, he concentrated, feeling the familiar surge of energy. His body shimmered, and within moments, he transformed back into a fox.

The Grand Duke's eyes glimmered. "Ah… there you are." He didn't move to stop him yet. Instead, he watched, letting Cecil test his powers, letting him think he had a chance.

Cecil leapt from the window, running through the forest as fast as his fox body could carry him. The sounds of the palace faded behind him, but the Grand Duke's presence lingered like a shadow in his mind.

I'm free… I have to be free… Cecil thought, weaving through the trees.

And somewhere far away, the Grand Duke smiled to himself. "Run all you want," he whispered. "But I will always find you."
