Chapter 28 - blood in the station

Jay POV

The moment the survivor dropped dead—

everything exploded into chaos.

People screamed.

Children cried.

Survivors started running in every direction.

The silver-haired Hunter stood in the middle of the station calmly while blood dripped from his blade.

Like killing meant nothing.

Like human lives were just part of a game.

I hated him instantly.

Seraphine smiled softly from behind him.

"Still dramatic as ever, Rune."

So silver-hair psycho had a name.

Wonderful.

Rune tilted his head slightly toward us.

"These are the elite survivors?"

His eyes landed on Kiefer.

Then Drake.

Then Ace.

A dangerous grin appeared.

"...finally."

The third Hunter still hadn't spoken.

He stood silently near the tunnel entrance holding the massive blade across his shoulder.

Watching.

Observing.

Like a predator deciding where to strike first.

Ryu immediately shouted—

"Protect the civilians!"

Survivors moved quickly despite their fear.

Some grabbed weapons.

Others rushed the younger survivors deeper underground.

Sean and Dylan started helping barricade the eastern tunnel while Winter pulled injured people away from the center.

Cassian loaded bullets into an old rifle quickly.

Nico cursed under his breath while dragging supplies behind cover.

The station instantly became a battlefield.

Alys POV

My heartbeat felt too loud.

Too fast.

Everything around me blurred between red emergency lights and shadows.

Seraphine looked directly at us.

Especially me.

"...interesting."

Drake moved slightly in front of me immediately.

Protective.

Instinctive.

Seraphine noticed and laughed softly.

"Oh, possessive too."

Drake's voice turned cold.

"Leave."

She smiled wider.

"Or what?"

The air shifted.

Dangerously.

Even Lucien stepped back slightly.

Drake walked forward slowly.

"No warnings twice."

For the first time—

Seraphine's smile faded slightly.

Like she finally realized who she was talking to.

Rune suddenly vanished again.

Fast.

But Ace reacted instantly this time.

Metal clashed violently as Ace blocked Rune's blade with a broken steel pipe.

The impact echoed through the station.

Zien stumbled backward from shock.

"...what the hell?!"

Rune smirked.

"Oh, you're fast."

Ace kicked him backward hard enough to send him sliding across the concrete floor.

Jay blinked.

"Okay that's actually terrifyingly attractive."

Kiefer looked at her.

"Now?"

"I cope through comments."

The silent Hunter suddenly moved.

The ground cracked beneath his steps.

Massive.

Heavy.

He swung the giant blade toward Thyme and Gorya.

Thyme shoved Gorya away instantly before blocking the attack with a metal rod.

The rod shattered immediately.

Thyme got thrown across the station violently.

"THYME!" Gorya screamed.

The Hunter finally spoke.

Deep voice.

Emotionless.

"Weak."

That one word alone felt terrifying.

Kenning immediately attacked from the side with Kavin beside him.

Perfect synchronization.

Kavin struck first.

Kenning followed immediately after.

The Hunter blocked both attacks effortlessly.

Then punched Kenning directly into a pillar.

Concrete cracked instantly.

Kavin's expression darkened.

Very few things seemed capable of making Kavin angry.

This definitely did.

Zien POV

This wasn't a fight.

It was survival.

The Hunters were on a completely different level from the creatures outside.

Smarter.

Faster.

Crueler.

Rune attacked Ace again at terrifying speed.

Their movements almost impossible to follow.

Metal crashing.

Footsteps echoing.

Pure violence.

I tried helping—

but Rune suddenly appeared right in front of me.

Too fast.

Way too fast.

"Zien!" Ace shouted.

Rune grabbed my throat instantly and lifted me slightly off the ground.

His expression stayed calm.

Cold.

"You're his weakness."

Fear slammed into me immediately.

Not because of dying.

Because Ace looked genuinely terrified for the first time.

Rune smiled slightly after noticing.

"Interesting."

Then Ace hit him hard enough to send both of them crashing through a table.

I dropped to the ground coughing violently.

Ace immediately crouched beside me.

"You hurt?"

I shook my head quickly.

But his hands were shaking slightly.

Not from fear for himself.

For me.

That realization hit harder than expected.

A creature suddenly burst through one of the broken tunnels.

Then another.

Then dozens more.

Jay stared in disbelief.

"Oh COME ON."

Lucien cursed sharply.

"The station walls are collapsing!"

Now both monsters and Hunters were inside.

Amazing.

Absolutely amazing.

Gorya POV

The giant Hunter moved toward me again.

Thyme immediately stepped in front of me despite blood running down his arm.

"You don't touch her."

The Hunter stared at him silently.

Then smiled slightly.

A terrifying smile.

"Protective."

Thyme looked ready to kill him.

"Say one more word."

The Hunter tilted his head slowly.

"You'd die first."

Before Thyme could attack—

Gorya grabbed his wrist tightly.

"Wait."

He glanced back at me.

I could see the rage in his eyes.

Real rage.

The kind that destroys everything.

But I also saw something else.

Fear.

Not fear of dying.

Fear of losing me.

The Hunter noticed too.

And suddenly—

he moved.

Fast enough to blur.

His blade swung downward toward me.

Thyme blocked it instantly with his own body.

Blood splattered across the floor.

"GORYA RUN!"

My heart stopped.

"THYME!"

He dropped to one knee breathing hard.

The wound across his shoulder looked deep.

Too deep.

Rage exploded inside me instantly.

I grabbed the broken metal rod nearby and slammed it directly into the Hunter's face.

He barely moved.

But everyone froze.

Including Thyme.

The Hunter slowly looked down at me.

Then laughed.

Actually laughed.

"Interesting girl."

I hated that sound.

Thyme grabbed my arm immediately and pulled me behind him again despite being injured.

"Don't do that again."

"You got hurt!"

"And I would again."

His voice stayed firm.

Certain.

That somehow hurt more.

Drake POV

Seraphine watched everything with amusement.

Like this entire massacre entertained her.

I moved toward her slowly.

She smiled.

"Finally."

The moment I attacked—

her expression changed.

No more amusement.

Only focus.

She blocked my strike barely.

The impact alone forced her backward.

Her eyes widened slightly.

"So the rumors were true."

I didn't answer.

Seraphine attacked again using twin blades hidden beneath her coat.

Fast.

Precise.

Deadly.

But predictable.

I caught her wrist mid-attack and slammed her against the wall.

The concrete cracked instantly.

The entire station went silent for one second.

Seraphine coughed blood slightly.

Then smiled.

"...you're even stronger than expected."

Alys shouted suddenly—

"Drake behind you!"

One of the creatures leaped toward me.

Seraphine took advantage immediately and escaped my grip.

Smart.

Very smart.

Lucien suddenly appeared beside me and killed the creature instantly.

"You need to focus."

"I am focused."

"Not enough."

Seraphine wiped blood from her mouth slowly.

Then laughed softly.

"Oh this is PERFECT."

Jay yelled from across the station—

"CAN EVERYONE STOP ENJOYING MURDER?!"

Kiefer punched a creature directly into a wall before answering calmly—

"Reasonable request."

Kenning POV

Kavin looked terrifying.

Actually terrifying.

The moment the giant Hunter injured me—

something in Kavin snapped.

His movements became colder.

Sharper.

More brutal.

The Hunter swung his blade again—

Kavin dodged and stabbed broken glass directly through the Hunter's arm.

The Hunter finally reacted.

Not pain.

Interest.

"Good."

Kavin grabbed his collar violently.

"Shut up."

Then slammed him into the floor hard enough to crack the concrete beneath them.

Jay blinked from nearby.

"...remind me to never annoy him."

"Too late," Kenning muttered painfully.

Kavin helped me stand immediately after.

"You okay?"

"Yeah."

Lie.

Complete lie.

But he understood anyway.

The Hunter stood again slowly.

No panic.

No anger.

Just curiosity.

"Name."

Kavin stared coldly.

"...what?"

"Your name."

Silence.

Then—

"Kavin."

The Hunter nodded once.

"...Baal."

Wait.

That giant psychopath's name was Baal?

Why did that somehow make him scarier?

Baal lifted his blade again.

"Kavin."

The faintest smile appeared on his face.

"Worthy."

Kavin looked deeply disturbed by that statement.

Honestly same.

Alys POV

The station was falling apart.

Smoke filled the air.

Creatures kept flooding inside.

People screaming everywhere.

And through all the chaos—

the system voice suddenly echoed again.

Loud.

Everywhere.

System Voice:

"LEVEL TWO OFFICIALLY INITIATED."

Everyone froze.

Even the Hunters looked upward slightly.

The system continued—

"Objective One:"

"Survive the first purge."

Then—

a timer appeared across the station walls.

23:59:58

23:59:57

Jay stared upward blankly.

"...it's timed now?"

System Voice:

"Hunters released."

"Safe zones removed."

"Elite survivors prioritized."

Zien whispered softly—

"...prioritized?"

Lucien's expression darkened immediately.

"Run."

Ryu looked shocked.

"What?"

Lucien turned toward us sharply.

"The entire city knows where you are now."

Cold fear spread instantly.

Outside—

the monsters started screaming louder.

Thousands of them.

Answering the system.

The walls of the station trembled violently.

Dust falling from the ceiling.

Baal looked upward calmly.

Rune smiled.

Seraphine sighed dramatically.

"Looks like the city's coming to greet you."

Jay pointed aggressively.

"I hate all three of you."

Seraphine grinned.

"Get used to us."

Then suddenly—

the Hunters retreated.

Just disappeared into the tunnels.

Not defeated.

Leaving willingly.

Ace frowned immediately.

"...that's bad."

Lucien nodded once.

"They never retreat without reason."

Then—

a deafening roar echoed from above the station.

Not human.

Not creature.

Something worse.

Something massive.

The ceiling cracked.

People screamed.

And the system voice returned one last time—

"Special Class entering combat zone."

Silence.

Pure terror.

Then the entire roof above us collapsed.
