Chapter 22 - game 5/the end isn't the exit (Final )game

Alys POV

Darkness again.

But this time—

it wasn't chaotic.

It was… still.

Too still.

Like the calm before something irreversible.

"Alys."

Drake's voice.

Close.

I turned—and he was there.

Right in front of me.

No walls.

No barriers.

Everyone… together again.

Jay, Kiefer.

Gorya, Thyme.

Zien, Ace.

Kenning, Kavin.

All of us.

For a second—

it almost felt normal.

Then the system spoke.

System Voice

"Final Game Initiated."

Silence swallowed everything.

No one joked.

No one complained.

Because we all felt it—

This was it.

Jay POV

"Alright," I muttered, crossing my arms, "what's the twist this time?"

Kiefer stood beside me, unusually quiet.

"Whatever it is," he said, "it won't be simple."

"Nothing here ever is."

System Voice

"GAME FIVE: THE FINAL CHOICE"

The ground shifted slowly.

A massive hall formed around us.

At the center—

a single door.

Huge.

Old.

Almost… alive.

And above it—

words appeared.

"EXIT"

Gorya POV

"That's it?" I whispered.

"No," Thyme said immediately.

"It's never that easy."

System Voice

"All players may leave."

Pause.

Then—

"…but not all will remain the same."

Zien POV

I frowned.

"What does that even mean?"

Ace didn't answer.

He was staring at the door.

Like he already understood something we didn't.

Alys POV

"Drake…" I whispered.

He didn't look at me.

"…this is the last game."

"You said that before," I replied.

"This time I'm sure."

Something in his tone made my chest tighten.

"What's the condition?"

System Voice

"Each pair must decide."

"Leave together… and lose something important."

"Or stay… and protect it."

Silence.

Heavy.

Confusing.

Jay POV

"Lose what exactly?" I snapped.

No answer.

Of course.

Kiefer exhaled slowly.

"…memories," he muttered.

"What?"

"This place feeds on connections," he said. "If we leave… it'll take something tied to that."

I froze.

"You mean… we forget?"

"Or something worse."

Alys POV

I stepped back.

"No."

No way.

After everything—

After everything we went through—

we just forget?

"That's not fair," I whispered.

Drake looked at me.

"It was never meant to be."

Kenning POV

I looked at Kavin.

"…if we leave and forget each other?"

He didn't hesitate.

"Then we find each other again."

My chest tightened.

"You're saying that so easily."

"I mean it."

"What if we can't?"

"Then I'll make sure we can."

Simple.

Steady.

That's who he is.

And somehow—

that gave me strength.

Gorya POV

"I'm not losing you," I said immediately.

Thyme smirked faintly.

"You say that like you have a choice."

"I don't care. I'll stay if I have to."

He looked at me.

Really looked.

"…even if it means never leaving this place?"

My breath caught.

But still—

"…yes."

For a moment—

he didn't say anything.

Then he stepped closer.

"You're insane."

"So are you."

"Good."

Zien POV

I turned to Ace.

"What are we doing?"

He didn't answer immediately.

That already made me nervous.

"Ace."

"…we leave."

That fast.

"You decided already?"

"Yes."

"What about the 'losing something' part?"

He looked at me.

And for the first time—

there was no hesitation.

"If I lose anything…"

He stepped closer.

"…I'll still choose you again."

My heart skipped.

"That's not logical."

"Neither is this place."

I almost smiled.

Almost.

Jay POV

"So?" I asked.

"What's your grand plan?"

Kiefer shrugged.

"We leave."

"No overthinking?"

"No."

"Why?"

He looked at me.

"Because staying means the game still controls us."

That made sense.

Annoyingly.

"And leaving?"

"We take the risk."

Silence.

Then—

"…fine."

Alys POV

Everyone was deciding.

Talking.

Choosing.

But I couldn't.

Because one thought wouldn't leave me.

"Drake."

He looked at me.

"…what if I forget you?"

Silence.

Real silence.

Not the system.

Not the place.

Just us.

"You won't," he said.

"You don't know that."

"I don't."

That honesty hurt.

"But even if you do…"

He stepped closer.

"I'll remind you."

"How?"

He didn't answer.

Instead—

he gently held my face.

And kissed me.

Not rushed.

Not desperate.

But deep.

Certain.

Like he was trying to leave something behind—

in case everything else was taken.

When he pulled back—

my heart was racing.

"You feel that?" he asked softly.

I nodded.

"That doesn't disappear easily."

System Voice

"Time limit approaching."

FINAL DECISION

One by one—

they stepped forward.

Jay and Kiefer.

Gorya and Thyme.

Zien and Ace.

Kenning and Kavin.

Then—

Me and Drake.

We stood in front of the door.

All of us.

Together.

System Voice

"Final confirmation."

"You choose to leave."

No one stepped back.

"…accepted."

THE EXIT

The door opened.

Slowly.

Light spilled through.

Bright.

Blinding.

For a second—

everything felt…

free.

Zien POV (Key Scene)

Before stepping through—

I grabbed Ace's hand.

He looked at me.

"…just in case," I said.

He didn't ask what I meant.

Instead—

he pulled me closer.

And kissed me.

Not soft.

Not hesitant.

But real.

Like a promise.

Like—

even if we forget, this mattered.

When we pulled apart—

I didn't say anything.

Because I didn't need to.

Kenning POV (Key Scene)

I looked at Kavin.

"…this feels like goodbye."

He shook his head.

"No."

Then he pulled me into a tight hug.

Stronger than before.

"I don't care what this place takes," he said quietly.

"I'm not losing you."

I closed my eyes.

"…don't let me forget that."

"Never."

FINAL MOMENT

All of us—

together—

stepped through the door.

OUTSIDE

Alys POV

Fresh air.

Wind.

Silence.

We were outside.

We made it.

"We're out…" I whispered.

Jay laughed softly.

"Finally."

Gorya looked around.

"This place… looks different."

Zien frowned.

"…where is everyone?"

THE REALIZATION

The campus—

was empty.

Completely.

No students.

No staff.

Nothing.

Just…

silence.

Drake POV

Something felt wrong.

Very wrong.

"This isn't right," I said.

Alys looked at me.

"What do you mean?"

"This place is never empty."

FINAL TWIST

A loud sound echoed in the distance.

Not from the university.

From outside.

Like…

something collapsing.

The ground trembled slightly.

Zien whispered—

"…what was that?"

Ace's expression hardened.

"…something worse."

FINAL LINE

The system voice returned—

but not from inside.

From everywhere.

"Congratulations."

"You have cleared Hell University."

Pause.

Then—

"…Level One."

Silence.

Pure shock.

Alys felt her heart drop.

"…level… one?"

Drake closed his eyes.

Because now—

he understood.

This was never the end.

Just the beginning.
