Chapter 70 - The Strange Old Woman

For the next two days I kept to my usual routine. Trained with Sean in the mornings, ran with Sean and the twins, had dinner with the pack and then spent whatever daylight was left tending to the garden. In the evenings I made my way up to the hill to watch the sunset, and both times I arrived Phoenix was already there, sitting in the grass waiting.

It felt like something out of a story. We sat together in silence and watched the light go down, and I could visibly see the tension drain out of him as the sky changed colour. On Friday he had arrived particularly wound up, and it was quietly fascinating to watch him unwind under the glow of the red sunset without a word being said between us.

"You have been shifting with Charlie fairly regularly, right?" he asked at one point.

"I have," I said.

"Would you feel like sparring in wolf form tomorrow?" he asked.
