I turned to look up at Phoenix. There were only a few centimetres between his chest and my back, and the distance felt impossibly loud. I just wanted to close it. The mate bond was growing stronger every day and my wolf was practically vibrating with need beside me.
His hazel eyes looked down at me, his lips set in a firm line. "Are you okay?"
"Yes," I breathed.
He nodded but clearly did not believe me. "We need to talk. My office, alone."
I swallowed hard but nodded.
The nerves hit me immediately. Was this it? Was he finally going to reject me after weeks of leaving me in the dark? My stomach twisted and I could not focus on the match happening around us at all, just the white noise ringing in my ears.
