Chapter 104 - Prologue: A Peaceful and Tranquil Life

"Pfft, so that's what happened later. Leticia must have been scared out of her wits by you."

On a sunny afternoon, a cute girl dressed in a long black dress sat in a pavilion in the garden. With a faint smile on her face, she listened to her younger sister recount a story from not long ago.

Leticia's recovery speed wasn't slow. Compared to the last time when she almost didn't wake up, this seven-day slumber seemed quite ordinary.

Of course, in the words of the healer who had once treated Leticia, "Don't treat this method as a routine measure; burning it once requires at least several months of recovery."

"Probably, but I explained it properly," Kira replied with a sheepish grin. "How does it feel to be back in the Demon Race?"

"The same as before. I want to play games and see my waifus," Leticia said with a look of total despair. "Why is there no internet here in the Demon Realm?"

"Since you're so free, Sister, can't you take a look at the official documents that have piled up over all these years?" A vein popped on Kira's forehead.

Official documents?!

Leticia's gaze instantly became fearful. Those official documents that filled an entire room?

If she were to finish processing all of them, she estimated that Kira would have already succeeded the throne by then.

"I'm still a patient."

"Since you know you're a patient, then recuperate properly for me. Don't think about running away, you hear me?" Kira glared at her sister. "I'll move those things over and read them to you one by one. You just need to nod or shake your head."

Kira could handle those minor matters for Leticia, but most of the accumulated documents were major issues that Kira couldn't decide on her own.

After finally waiting for her sister to return, if she didn't take advantage of this time when she couldn't run around to resolve the leftover historical issues, Kira was afraid she'd have to drag her sister back from the Human World again before long.

"Don't~"

"Sister, acting cute is useless."

Life in the Demon Race was peaceful and quiet as always; however, things weren't quite so stable over on the human side.

After Fog City was sealed by sunlight, Elder Ying and the others vanished. Perhaps they had slipped away while Melanie and the others were focused on Leticia, or perhaps they had silently disappeared from this world.

Later, the Hero Association practically plowed through the entire Central City but still couldn't find the old man's whereabouts.

However, although the people were gone, the physical form of Fog City remained.

It was a beautiful crystal ball. Inside was an exquisite model of a city, and the most conspicuous part was undoubtedly the Clock Tower located in the city center.

Now, a miniature sun floated above Fog City, illuminating the city and causing the mist to dissipate.

"It's truly a magical item. We've tried all sorts of methods but haven't been able to destroy it," Sang Zitong said to Melanie as she stood behind a piece of bulletproof glass, looking at the heavily protected crystal ball.

"Yes, it is a god's seal, after all," Melanie nodded. "Is the deciphering of the Prophecy Book going smoothly?"

"Fairly smoothly, but it's the first time our people have done something like this, so the process is a bit tedious."

Deciphering the Prophecy Book had originally hit a stalemate. After all, they didn't have the Decoding Book that Kira had mentioned.

Until three weeks ago, when Melanie, out of boredom, logged into a game she hadn't touched in a long time and saw that book lying quietly in her game inventory.

Prophecy Book I.

Prophecy Book? Prophecy Book!

Melanie felt her thought was ridiculous, but she was indeed wondering if there was a connection between this Prophecy Book in the game and the Prophecy Book she had obtained.

And after trying it once, she was surprised to find that the Prophecy Book in the game was exactly the Decoding Book Kira had spoken of.

Although she didn't know why the Decoding Book was digital this time, at least it worked.

And so, the deciphering work commenced in full swing.

"So, what exactly happened that night?" Sang Zitong was curious. Contact had been lost for several hours, and her condition the next day was so poor.

It was hard for her not to overthink it.

"I promised someone else I wouldn't say," Melanie shook her head. She was still unwilling to tell others about Leticia's true identity, even if that person was her most respected senior.

"I see. Very well then." Sang Zitong shook her head. Although curious, she also knew her boundaries. "What about those three little ones? I heard they've been working very hard lately."

"Yes, they have a lot of potential," Melanie replied evasively. "If they practice hard, they'll soon reach the threshold of S-class."

The only problem was that every night, the Guild Leader would chat with Melanie and tell her idol how much she had gained that day.

After knowing their idol was right beside them, the passion those three little ones exploded with really left Melanie at a loss.

But, a bit of liveliness wasn't bad either.

With Leticia gone, Melanie felt her heart suddenly become empty.

Before, she would go find Leticia whenever she was bored, but now, the place downstairs was empty.

Although the furniture and bedding were still there, the girl who never gave anyone a kind look was gone.

Would she ever come back?

Melanie didn't know, but she hoped Leticia would return.

If all else failed, she could also go to the Demon Race to find Leticia.

But at that time, she would probably be kicked out. After all, the only thing she had done after entering the Demon Realm in the past was to slash Leticia.

"Sigh, how troublesome... 'Wait, you're the one who released the Fire Moths in the Elf Race?!'" Hearing Kira speak so casually about her scheme, Leticia nearly choked on her tea.

She had wondered which heartless person had thrown Fire Moths into the Elf Race's forest, but she never expected it to be her own dear sister.

"Those elves who are so idle they're about to sprout mushrooms need something to do, otherwise they'll just keep making trouble for me," Kira said nonchalantly. "Anyway, I just provided a bit of help to the Elf Race's rivals as an 'enthusiastic citizen.' Even if the elves look, they won't find their way to me."

Instead of letting the Elf Race bother her, it was better to bother them first. That way, she'd at least be happy.

"Hiss... Kira, that little girl from the Beastman Race, surely that wasn't your doing too?"

"I only created an opportunity for her to elope with her lover; I didn't interfere with anything else," Kira chuckled, revealing her mischievous nature.

"Sigh, I wonder when my injuries will fully heal. I'm about to sprout mushrooms from boredom too."

"Since you're so free, Sister, go ahead and approve the documents, or meet with the Heavenly Kings. They all miss you very much."

"Whoa, no way! I want to abdicate! I don't want to be the Demon King anymore!"
