Chapter 53 - Chapter 53. Relief

Leticia's words inexplicably made a lot of sense.

"Even if you humans knew I lived here, no one would dare come and provoke me." Leticia shrugged carelessly. "If I hadn't run into a jerk like you, my little life would have been quite comfortable."

She had been here for so long; wasn't her life peaceful before Melanie arrived?

Although she went out less often, she had gone out nonetheless, and after going out, no one recognized her, which already proved something.

"Your identity forgery is perfect."

"Of course. I am the supremely intelligent Demon King; such a small matter requires no effort!" Leticia puffed out her non-existent chest and said proudly.

"That must have been Miss Luna's work." Melanie didn't give Leticia any face; she knew very well that someone like Leticia could never pull off such a good disguise.

All of this must have been done by Luna, the maid who could practically do anything.

Luna, who had been mentioned, smiled shyly. "Miss Melanie, you flatter me."

See? She admitted it.

As they spoke, Melanie had already finished the bread Luna brought, leaving nothing behind. Her eating speed made even Leticia exclaim that she was a freak.

"I feel like the word 'pig' can no longer describe you." Leticia looked at the small portion of noodles left in front of her and said softly.

Less than three minutes passed from when Melanie started eating until she finished that huge piece of bread, and during that time, Melanie had even exchanged a few barbs with Leticia.

From this, it was clear that Melanie's eating speed could only be described as terrifying.

After finishing breakfast, Melanie stood up, planning to go home and wait for her younger sister to wake up.

"You're just going to leave without a word? Aren't you going to say thank you for the meal?" Leticia was quite displeased. This Melanie ran to her house early in the morning just to freeload, and then snuck off without a single word4what kind of human trash was this?

"Oh, thank you for the meal." Melanie complied readily, nodding toward Luna, who was standing nearby.

Leticia bristled. What did Melanie mean by that? Was she looking down on her?

"I'm the boss of this house! You should be thanking me!"

"Breakfast was prepared for me by Miss Luna. Leticia, you were just sitting there eating." Melanie explained earnestly. "So the one I'm thanking is Miss Luna."

"Ahahaha." Luna looked awkward. She glanced at the furious Leticia and quickly said to Melanie, "Luna was only following His Majesty's orders. If Miss Melanie wants to thank someone, please thank His Majesty."

"Is that so?"

"Yes."

"Alright then, Leticia, thank you for the hospitality." Melanie finally looked at Leticia, her words completely lacking sincerity.

Could such an apology satisfy Leticia?

Of course... it could.

"Mhm, mhm, go on, go on. Don't come here if there's nothing wrong." Leticia, who had just been on the verge of exploding, now smiled. She waved her hand magnanimously, signaling Melanie to scram far away.

The Demon King Lord's face was more fickle than the summer sky.

"The clothes should arrive this afternoon. I'll come over and call you." Melanie struggled to produce a smile. "Don't run off, okay."

Melanie's smile, which was uglier than crying, truly left Leticia speechless. The Demon King Lord felt she had underestimated the extent of Melanie's facial paralysis.

Look at that face; it should look beautiful when she smiles, but under Melanie's execution, it looked as ugly as a monster from the edge of the world.

"Give me a break. Your smile is worse than not smiling at all. You were originally an 'Iceberg Beauty,' but now you're just a female ghost."

"Is it that ugly?" Melanie rubbed her face, smoothing out the smile she had struggled to produce.

"A deliberately forced smile will never look good, Miss Melanie. You don't need to try so hard." Luna agreed with Leticia's assessment; Melanie's recent smile was indeed a little scary.

Miss Sword Saint sighed. Sure enough, she still had some minor issues managing her expressions.

Forget it, forget it. She would worry about such minor things later.

"I'll be going now."

"I won't see you off."

Only after Melanie left did Leticia pick up the almost empty bowl of noodles in front of her and heartily gulp down the remaining soup.

"Ha, satisfying." Placing the empty bowl on the table, Leticia let out a small burp.

Actually, her table manners weren't much better.

"Sigh, Luna, I really want to move now." Cupping her chin, Leticia's gaze drifted around the room.

She originally thought being neighbors with Melanie wasn't unacceptable, but now, she felt her past self had been far too naive.

That Melanie was like sticky candy; once she clung on, she couldn't be shaken off.

Her constantly coming over to freeload meals annoyed Leticia immensely. They were supposed to be mortal enemies, so why was Melanie so clueless?

She just wanted a peaceful life; wasn't it a beautiful thing if she and Melanie simply kept to themselves?

"Should I start looking for a new residence now?" Luna expressed understanding regarding Leticia's complaints.

Melanie was indeed unreasonable, and Luna was already surprised that Leticia was only starting to lose patience now.

She had originally thought Leticia would only last a few days, but she managed to hold out for a whole week. Truly commendable.

"Start looking first. Preferably a place very similar to this one." Leticia nodded. If Melanie got any worse, moving would have to be put on the agenda.

Having a Sword Saint living here was bound to attract attention, especially since Melanie seemed to naturally draw trouble.

Look, it had only been a few days, and a Demon had already shown up.

Today it was a Demon, tomorrow a Beastman would arrive, the day after an Elf would show up, and eventually, would Kira also manage to find this place?

If Kira caught her, Leticia's good days would be over.

"Speaking of which, Luna, do you have any news about Kira?"

"We haven't been able to find any news about Her Royal Highness the Princess yet. Her Highness is very cautious." Luna shook her head. "Unless we communicate with the Demon Realm side..."

"That would be walking straight into a trap. Try your best to look, but if you can't find her, forget it." Leticia immediately stated that communication with the Demon Realm was absolutely forbidden. She had expended great effort to escape without those people noticing.

If Luna established a communication channel with them, those guys might find their way over here.

One Melanie was enough to give Leticia a headache; if a few old men showed up, she'd probably spontaneously combust.

Therefore, absolutely not.

"It's fine if we don't find her; at least it means Kira isn't in this area."
