Chapter 52 - Chapter 52. Free-loading a Meal

Kira's questioning naturally yielded no results; if Melanie didn't want to speak, no one could pry her mouth open.

In the end, Kira only managed to obtain one clue: this girl named Melanie very likely knew her elder sister.

"What you're looking for isn't here, so don't waste your time," was the last thing Melanie said to Kira. "Leticia knows nothing; there's no need for you to get close to her."

After saying this, Melanie stood up and left the room without looking back.

Kira was left stunned, unable to fathom what Melanie was talking about. She didn't want to get close to Yori either, but if Yori took the initiative to approach her, what choice did she have?

She couldn't exactly keep a cold face toward a young girl who was beaming with smiles, could she?

With a helpless sigh, Kira closed her eyes. Melanie's visit had actually put her mind at ease.

Since her identity had already been discovered, so be it.

The fact that Melanie hadn't made a move against her yet showed that Melanie's desire to fight was truly low. As long as she didn't do anything excessive, she should be safe.

Melanie said what Kira wanted wasn't here, and Kira believed her. Melanie didn't look like the type who could lie; if she did, Kira was confident she could tell.

And just now, Melanie's expression didn't look like she was lying. Perhaps Melanie was related to that book, but the book indeed wasn't with her right now.

Sigh, today was a total waste of effort.

Not only was it a waste, but she had also been treated as a body pillow by Yori. She was at a huge loss, okay?

With a heart full of regret, Kira's breathing gradually stabilized. Being held by another girl while sleeping wasn't actually a bad thing.

At least it was quite comfortable... The morning sunlight spilled over the two girls huddled together, but they didn't react. Perhaps because they were too exhausted last night, they were still sleeping soundly.

Melanie stood outside the door with her arms crossed, the scene in the bedroom clearly imprinted in her mind. Shaking her head, she decided not to disturb the two girls.

As for breakfast, she would go downstairs to sponge a meal. Melanie believed Leticia wouldn't refuse this small request of hers.

Regarding this matter, Leticia expressed that she had never seen someone so shameless.

"Can't you cook something for yourself?" Leticia, who was slurping noodles, was truly speechless after hearing Melanie's reason for coming over. "I don't have anything for you to eat here."

"Leticia is still sleeping, it's not good to disturb them," Melanie said to Luna with a bit of embarrassment. "I ate a bit little last night, so I'll have to trouble you, Miss Luna."

Why explain to Luna? Because after a brief period of interaction, Melanie already knew that in most cases, Leticia was just there for the atmosphere; the one who truly called the shots in this house was Luna.

As long as she convinced Luna, Luna would naturally help her convince Leticia.

And for a small matter like sponging a meal, Luna could make the decision herself without even asking Leticia for instructions.

So, would Luna refuse?

Of course not.

"Malanie, please wait a moment. I'll go prepare another portion of breakfast for you," Luna said with an understanding expression. "Please, have a seat here first."

"Why be so polite? If you ask me, shouldn't we just kick her out?" Leticia rolled her eyes. Melanie's level of shamelessness was truly appalling. "I say, don't you have any shame? A Sword Saint coming to a Demon King's house to sponge a meal—where is the justice in that?"

Leticia's mockery had no effect whatsoever. Melanie very naturally sat down next to Leticia. "Your clothes should arrive today."

"What?" Leticia's movements stopped instantly.

She suddenly remembered that trip out a week ago. That time, Melanie seemed to have custom-ordered a few outfits for her.

"I..."

"Those clothes should suit you quite well." Melanie patted Leticia's shoulder, indicating she would help Leticia put them on. "How can you look like a girl if you keep wearing these clothes?"

Leticia looked down; the oversized T-shirt she was wearing indeed didn't look like something a girl would wear.

Especially since Leticia generally didn't wear pants at home; the oversized T-shirt was basically worn as a dress by her.

"Regarding this matter, I'm on Malanie's side," Luna said as she walked out of the kitchen carrying a plate of bread, having a basic understanding of Melanie's appetite. "Your Majesty, you're going to meet someone offline on Wednesday; you should dress a bit better."

"The Guild Leader and I are kindred spirits; it doesn't matter if I dress casually!" Leticia expressed her refusal.

Unfortunately, the refusal was of no use.

"No matter how casual, you can't go wearing a men's T-shirt, right?" This time Luna was serious. She didn't want her Majesty to leave a bad impression on others. "Malanie, I'll leave Her Majesty to you."

"Leticia will help too." Melanie nodded, then she reached out, took a piece of bread, and took a bite. "The taste is quite good."

"Of course it's good; a bag costs over ten yuan," Leticia grumbled.

Although Luna was skillful, making bread at home was still a bit difficult for her.

These loaves of bread were all bought by Luna from the store to be used as snacks; this time, it was a bargain for this fellow Melanie.

"Leticia, have you figured anything out about that book?" While eating, Melanie didn't forget to ask Leticia about the book.

"I haven't figured out anything. I plan to give it to Kira." Leticia picked up a vegetable leaf with her chopsticks and spoke her mind.

Melanie raised an eyebrow. "You really dare to say that."

"Stop me if you can; the book is in my hands now." Leticia snorted. She was the one who held the initiative now.

"Heh, find your sister first before you talk." Melanie didn't care about Leticia's words because she knew very well that Leticia was just talking big right now.

"Don't let it be your sister who finds you first."

"Hehe, who knows I live here? I don't believe that wretched girl Kira could find this place." Leticia was full of confidence.

Yesterday's false alarm had boosted her confidence quite a bit. After all, the most eye-catching person here right now was Melanie.

As for herself, what was there to notice about an ordinary little shut-in girl?

"You haven't cast a disguise spell on yourself; aren't you afraid of being recognized by someone?" Melanie asked.

Indeed, Leticia always went about with her natural face. She seemed to have no awareness at all that she was a person on the run.

Even Kira had cast a disguise spell on herself, but Leticia was just that confident—nope, I'm not casting one.

"There's no need. Among the humans who know me and are still alive, you're the only one. Among the demons, only Kira has seen my true appearance. Who would I be fooling with a disguise spell?"
