Chapter 2 - 2

Harry Potter

roulette wheel stopped, and Harry Potter's name lit up.

I blinked a few times and even rubbed my eyes a little before looking at the wheel again to make sure I hadn't misinterpreted it. Sure enough, Harry Potter's name was shining brightly on the wheel while the other names faded.

With a snap of his fingers, D made the wheel disappear as he said,

"Congratulations! You're going to the world of Harry Potter. Now, with your karma points, you can choose some skills or artifacts of your choice. I'm going to show you a list of the things that are within your karmic budget."

With another snap of his fingers, D made another screen appear in front of me.

see your options, first select the category you want. I recommend carefully reading each section so you can see all your possibilities. Also, keep in mind that even if the world you're in is Harry Potter's, you might not be born in the exact same era as him, or maybe you will; it all depends on your luck. Once you're satisfied with your choices, press Accept, and they will be implemented. Choose wisely, and I hope you live a long life and fulfill your dreams. This is all I can do for you. We'll meet again when your time comes, and I hope it's not too soon and that this time you have a long life.

With those last words, D left me alone in the room, and I began to read all my available options.

I think I spent a few hours before choosing the following options.

[Universal Language (280 PK)

Mana Core Lv. 1 (500 PK)

Occlumency MAX (1000 PK)

Acquisition System] (2000 PK)

Karmic Points: 0

Accept. ]

With the number of points I had, I could have chosen many other things. I could even have chosen the Elder Wand, but it was absurdly expensive, costing 3,000 points, and I didn't think it was worth spending almost all my points on it if I didn't have the necessary skills to keep myself safe. So, that's why I chose these options after reading their descriptions.

With Universal Language, I'll be able to understand any language I hear or read, and I'll also be able to write it.

The Mana Core was necessary to be a wizard, or in my case, a witch. The level indicates the amount of mana my body has. To increase my mana reserves, I need to meet certain requirements to increase it on my own or let it increase gradually over the years, but from what I read, it's better to increase it on my own if I want to be able to protect myself.

If I let the Core level increase over the years, it would leave me vulnerable if I were to be reborn in Harry's time.

I chose maximum Occlumency because I didn't want anyone messing with my mind and finding out what I know about the movies if I were to be reborn in Harry's era.

As for the Acquisition System, it's a way to learn spells or get blueprints for artifacts and even money, according to its description. All I have to do is complete the necessary tasks to obtain what I want, and from what it said, the more powerful the item I want, the more difficult the task will be, or something like that.

Once I was sure of my choice, I pressed Accept, and my body glowed for a moment, making me close my eyes. When I could open them again, I noticed I was lying in a bed and seemed to be wrapped up, as I couldn't move my hands very well. My vision was a little blurry, and everything around me seemed abnormally large. I tried to speak, but I couldn't. I panicked, and without being able to control it, I started to cry. From the sound, I realized I was a baby.

A BABY!!

I had been reborn as a baby, and that thought only made me cry even more. (It sucks being a baby; I can't control my emotions.)

It seemed my cries alerted my new mom because I felt the right side of the bed move, and then hands lifted me from the bed and held me in a warm, tender embrace that gently rocked me. I could hear a sweet, loving voice that reminded me so much of my mother.

"There, there, sweetheart, it seems my little one has finally woken up. You had Mommy so worried. You have no idea how long I've waited, Mommy, to hold you safe and sound in my arms..."

The woman continued speaking, and from what I could gather, it seemed they thought I wouldn't survive. I don't know who my new mother is, but I think there's a good chance that if I hadn't been reborn into this world in this body, her baby wouldn't have survived. Maybe yes, maybe no, I'm not sure, but now that I'm here, I hope I can make her proud of me and spend time with her the way I would have loved to with my previous mother.

My new mother's gentle voice quickly calmed me and made me drowsy. I was half asleep and half awake when I felt something being brought to my mouth, and instinctively I opened it and began to suck.

***

It's frustrating being a baby; there aren't many things I can do in the short time I'm awake.

(He asked me if I could do anything with my system, but I haven't checked it yet... I don't remember how I could see it... is there any symbol in my field of vision?... no, there isn't... perhaps... Open panel... nothing... maybe... System activated.)

Ding! Acquisition System Activated.

After hearing a bell-like sound in my head, a blue screen appeared in front of me.

[Tasks

Gold: 0 Silver: 0 Copper: 0]

(I don't think that's what I imagined when I read the system description... I hope I haven't been scammed by this system.)

I tried to touch the screen with my hand and open the shop option, but my hand simply passed right through it. Then I tried selecting it with my mind, and this time it worked.

[Shop

Skills

Blueprints

Gold: 0 Silver: 0 Copper: 0]

The first thing I did was look at the skills section, and I was surprised by what I found since I recognized many of them. They were some of the skills that certain characters from some of the anime and movies I've seen had, such as

Amaterasu: inextinguishable black fire. Once it reaches its target, the black flames burn ceaselessly until they completely consume it. (Price: 100 gold).

That was one of Itachi's abilities, and it wasn't the only one. There were others, such as teleportation and elemental manipulation, like fire, water, and air.

There were also abilities that could be considered normal in the magical world, such as silent casting and wandless casting.

Beyond combat and defensive skills, there were also lifestyle and academic abilities, such as the Memory Palace, mastery of alchemy, and mastery of potions, among others.

As for the tasks, they were simple things like running a certain distance, doing certain exercises, reading a certain number of books, learning certain spells, performing a spell a certain number of times, successfully brewing a potion or alchemical artifact, learning and applying runes, collecting or planting certain types of magical plants, and raising or hunting certain types of magical animals.

There are all sorts of tasks, and their rewards vary depending on the difficulty. Some, like reading a book, pay as little as 30 coppers, with the reward depending on the complexity of the information. It seems the easiest are encyclopedias and dictionaries, whose rewards range from 30 coppers to 5 silvers, compared to spellbooks, which pay from 1 silver to 10 golds depending on the spell.

With spellbooks, you can get double rewards for finishing the book and successfully casting the spell. Since some books contain more than one spell, the rewards increase if you manage to cast them all.

I think I'm starting to really like this system. The only downside is that, being a baby, I can't do all of them yet. I'll have to thoroughly review the task list to see if there are any I can complete.
