Chapter 55 - The Beastfolk

The fight lasted an hour.

The heavy clouds peeled away, and the blue sky returned. I picked across the smoking remains of the village on the light of the day. It had burned completely to the ground. The few surviving villagers wept, kneeling on the charred earth. They have lost everything, but still, they didn't move to help each other.

A few houses had been burned. The Silver Diamond Inn was the only place left unscathed, a strange and perplexing sight among the charnel. Knowing these people, I was sure it was only a matter of time before the village elder accused of conspiring the chimera.

And now, we stood at the body of the exhausted chimera, preparing to meet it's end.

"Well, what should we do with it?" Elias muttered

"Definitely we kill it! He burned the village, there's no way his sins will be forgiven!" I replied

With a grinning look on his eyes, I can tell that my brother will do something despicable, something evil that lurks in his mind. While we were staring at the exhausted dragon, Elias lend out a funny idea.

"Eirene, see those gigantic testicles, let's kick it until it dies."

Elias pointed out the chimera's testicles, they were some huge balls, about the size of a boulder. It's green tinted color resides in prolonged use of masturbation. As his idea suggests, we have the free will to kick it as hard as we can.

In the sake of entertainment, Elias kicked the chimera's testicles as hard as he can, it lend out a foul smell, much like a smell of a rotten egg and piss. But he was enjoying it. Using the chimera's testicles like a punching bag.

Everyone grimaced as they realized what Elias was planning on doing. True, shattering the chimera's scales seemed like a daunting task, but this was still too much. Everyone except me shuddered at his merciless decision, but Elias paid them no mind.

"Let's see how you like this being kicked in the balls, you stupid chimera."

Without a moment's hesitation, he kicked with all his strength on the chimera's testicle as he could.

A second later, a sound was heard.

"Ahhhhhh! How dare you!"

The chimera let out an anguished scream as it opened its eyes. Tears dwelling from his eyes, like he was experienced what is like being kicked in the balls.

As Elias kicked the chimera's balls in one go, He had been planning on punching it further, but the chimera's screams, which sounded very much like words, surprised him so much that he unclenched his fist.

"My balls… My poor family jewels"

The chimera was pained, agonized and oddly impassioned scream was so unexpected that it shocked everyone stiff.

It would seem that this chimera… was no ordinary monster.

"Please stop, I'm begging of you, Stop!"

The voice that echoed through the village sounded pitiful. And decidedly masculine. The chimera's jaws weren't moving, so he was clearly using some kind of wide-area telepathy to broadcast her voice. That made sense, as it was unlikely a chimera's mouth and vocal cords would be able to produce anything resembling human speech.

However, it was impossible for monsters to understand or use human speech. The only exception being a demi-human or any beastkin. Leaving that aside, no other monsters had been seen using language of any sort.

That left two possibilities. First, that is was an undocumented kind of monster that had come extinct, from which can create good money. Or second, he is one of the beastfolk.

"Are you… one of the beastfolk?" Elias asks calmly

The chimera stiffened up upon hearing Elias's question. However a second later let out a defeated sigh. It appeared that it hadn't wanted the fact that it was beastfolk to be found out. Still, at this point, he could no longer hide it. It would be pointless to try and deny it now.

"Huh? Human, How could I make such a blunder…" he muttered regretfully

He wasn't sure if the boy before her had found out because of how off his movements had been while she was controlled, or because he'd accidentally spoke after being kicked in the balls… Chances were it was both.

"Indeed Human, I am a proud member of the beastfolk race. There are a number of reasons why I ended up here. I will explain all, so may I please ask that you stop kicking my family jewels? I am nearly out of mana. And if I was to return to my original form as is… suffice to say my testicles would end up in a most… unsightly state."

I was quite frankly surprised to see the interrogation between a mere human into a beastfolk. Now, my brother was face to face with a beastfolk, a race of monsters to have gone extinct one thousand years ago. Fate seemed to enjoy matching him up with extraordinary people.

As Elias was still pondering over his strange karma. I took over the questioning. Even for a human, the beastfolk were a legendary race. I was interested. Curiosity sparkles in my eyes.

"What are you doing here?" I asked

"Like I said, stop that foul human kicking my testicles. My mana is nearly depleted… so please stop this instant."

Enraged, my brother punched the chimera's sticky balls with brute force. The impact shook the chimera body. Leading the beastfolk screaming in pain

"Hey! My sister's the one asking questions here, you punk" Elias said, acting like a common thug, and started punching hardly.

The chimera writhed and screamed. The dignity he'd radiated upon their first meeting was nowhere to be found.

"What's a member of the lost race doing here of all places, and why are you so determined to kill a single adventurer… I'm pretty interested in the answer myself. I suppose I can delay hitting your balls until it breaks. If you want to show me gratitude, hurry up and talk." I said to the chimera

The beastfolk's action had been so unnatural that he was willing to delay killing his enemy until he figured out the details of what have happened. Of course my brother didn't punch hardly, just a little flick.

"Aah, not so hard… I'll talk, so stop."

Patricia and Catherine were appalled by Elias's callous attitude, but he ignored them. But if he kept going, the chimera probably wouldn't be able to talk so he stopped. He kept his hand at the slimy testes so he could resume at anytime though.

Relieved, the chimera let out a sigh. He hurriedly begin explaining what had happened. I wasn't sure if the sensuality I sensed in his voice was just my imagination or not.

"Is your sister the chimera we slain yesterday."

"Heck no! That chimera was a complete stranger to me. That was just a normal chimera, while I am a beastkin. I didn't plot revenge from that chimera."

"Well, why did you attack the village? Is it for revenge?"

"I was being controlled. I had no intention of attacking you people. However, the man who took control of me ordered me to destroy this village."

I doubted that the chimera was telling the truth, he was certain that the previous chimera we slain yesterday was not tied from his. I guess the village folklores were just a fluke.

"But why? And how?" I asked calmly

"Allow me to start from the very beginning. I am…"

In short, this is what happened.

There was something that chimera needed to do, which was why he had left the beastfolk's hidden village. That something was to investigate the unusual anomalies that was lurking in the mountains. While there were many more details the gist of it was a beastfolk with especially good perception had sensed a huge outpouring of mana a few months ago, and had surmised that someone had creating these anomalies.

That someone had been the chimera Elias had just fought. Originally, his plan had been to cross the mountains, then transform into a more human appearance and mix in with the people. From there he would have hidden her heritage as a beastfolk and set about gathering information.

On his way there, he had stopped for a rest in the valley between the first and second mountain ranges. As there were still dangerous monsters roaming that area, he had used the special magic that granted to all beastfolk. Transformation, to transform into his chimera appearance before setting down to sleep.

While he was sleeping, a man hidden in the shadows of a black robe had appeared before him. He had used a combination of hypnotic magic yo brainwash him and erode his mind little by little.

Of course most people would have been woken up by such an assault.

However, this is where the beastfolk's bad habit worked to the man's advantage. As more had mentioned before when he was explaining the proverb. Beastfolk were notoriously to wake up in their animal forms. That being said, beastfolk were also known for their immense willpower, and a dragonman of her caliber wouldn't have been easy to control.

The reason the man had been able to take over his mind so perfectly was because…

"He was truly a terrifying human. His proficiency with hypnotic magic was so great that I daresay he must have been some kind of genius. And he had nearly a whole day to work his magic on me. I may be fearsome, but even I cannot such an attack."

The chimera trailed off sadly, as if that had been the greatest blunder of his life. Unfortunately for him, I was merciless with my words.

"So, what you're telling me is that you were in such a deep sleep that you didn't even notice when someone was hovering over you, casting magic on you for an entire day?" I said

Everyone looked at him like he was an idiot. However, the chimera only stared off in the distance and continued as if he'd said nothing.

He did, it seemed, have some semblance of an excuse. Flying across the sea had been an exhausting ordeal, but his mission required speed. So when he had stopped for a rest, he'd placed himself in a deeper slumber than normal. Either way, it was obviously his mistake that led to this situation, though he didn't admit it.

The reason he knew this mysterious sorcerer had taking him over was because even under his mind control, the chimera's original personality and memories had been remained.

After that's he'd been forced to do the robed man's bidding, and he assisted him in bringing the monsters on the second mountain range under his control. Then one day, a herd of high orcs the masked man sent over to the mountain range had been spotted by Cassius party, and they had been ordered to eliminate all witnesses.

The robed man was worried survivors might report their appearance, which, while likely, could have led people to guess there was someone in the mountains controlling monsters. In order to make doubly sure everyone was annihilated, he'd sent the chimera over as well.

Then, Elias was impatient about our conversation, and began comment on the chimera

"I really don't give a damn about your responsibilities. You caused quite a bit of trouble. So for that, you'll have to die."

He raised his right arm and made a fist.

"Please wait! You cannot seriously mean to kill me now, not after all I said! I'm begging you, please let me go."

Elias ignored him and brought his fist down. But it never reached its intended target. Before he will punch his nutsack once again. I hugged my brother from behind. I lifted my face to his ear and muttered some words in a hushed tone.

"Brother, are you really going to kill him?" I whispered

"Hm? I mean yeah, we were pretty much fighting to the death a second ago…"

"But he's not an enemy. He never once had murderous intent toward you. He was being controlled."

"Oh, you're right."

I didn't want to let the chimera die. As I had growing up learning about the beastfolk's race, letting Elias kill her would leave bad taste in his sister's mouth.

As Elias stepped back at the chimera's body, it showed no signs of threat towards us and instead gave us an friendly gesture.

A few seconds after his incoherent rambling, the chimera's body was wrapped in a cocoon of mana and gradually started to shrink. When he shrunk to about human size, the cocoon of mana dissipated.

What emerged from the cocoon was a handsome man, he had black hair and a piercing crimson eyes. He was sitting on his knees, supporting his body with one hand and rubbing it's balls with the other. Thick hair fell down straight down to his waist. Fully naked and was shown with two genitals. He had a hugely large breasts, larger than mine. The chimera is a intersex.

"I have caused you all much grief. Please understand me truly, truly am sorry for what I have done. My name is Alta Granite. I'm a beastfolk of the Granite Clan"
