Chapter 24 - The bandit's

You raise one hand inside the merchant family's camp as the two moons climb high. A faint snap of your fingers — barely audible — and an invisible barrier of starlight blooms around your private tent. It seals perfectly: soundproof, monster-proof, and hidden from prying eyes. Harlan and the children sleep soundly in their own tent, none the wiser.

Mira curls against you on the soft enchanted bed, her naked body warm and eager after the long day. She rides you slow and deep, breasts bouncing gently in the lantern light, tail wrapped tight around your waist as she moans your name like a prayer. You finish hard inside her, flooding her completely while her magic sparks with shared pleasure. She collapses against your chest, satisfied and glowing.

"Rest well, my lord," she whispers, kissing your neck. "I'll guard your dreams."

You both drift into deep, peaceful sleep.

Morning comes bright and clear. The barrier fades at your silent command. The caravan packs up quickly — Harlan thanks Mira profusely for "keeping watch," completely unaware of the real protector in their midst. Lily and Theo wave at you shyly as they climb into the wagon. You and Mira take your places beside the lead wagon, and the journey continues down the wide road toward the Azure Kingdom capital.

By midday the forest thickens on both sides. Without warning, 11 ragged bandits burst from the trees — swords drawn, arrows nocked, faces painted with war markings. They surround the wagons in a practiced circle.

"Hand over the goods and the pretty fox, merchant!" their leader snarls. "Or we'll gut you all!"

Lily screams. Theo hides behind his father. Harlan freezes in terror.

Mira's hand flies to Starfang, emerald eyes flashing. She steps forward protectively, voice steady and fierce:

"Don't be afraid! I will protect you!"

You place a calm hand on her shoulder and speak quietly, loud enough for everyone to hear:

"Don't trouble yourself with this, Mira."

A single, lazy snap of your fingers.

POOF.

Eleven bursts of green smoke erupt where the bandits stood. In their place sit eleven very confused, very angry frogs croaking loudly on the dirt road. Their weapons and clothes lie in a useless pile.

Mira's ears twitch in delighted surprise. She quickly gathers the squirming frogs into a large enchanted sack (summoned with her magic), tying it shut with a neat knot. The frogs ribbit furiously inside, hopping uselessly.

You turn to the stunned merchant family and speak calmly:

"Take them to the guards when we reach the kingdom. Smash them once to return them back to human form… after they've spent a day or two as frogs. Consider it a lesson."

Harlan stares at you with wide eyes, then at Mira, then at the sack of frogs. He swallows hard and nods rapidly. "Y-yes, Lord Grim… as you say."

The children peek out, giggling nervously now that the danger is gone. "Frogs?! The merchant man turned them into frogs!"

Mira slings the sack over her shoulder with a proud smile, tail swishing. She leans close to you as the caravan starts moving again and whispers, voice full of heat and devotion:

"Beautifully done, my lord. Efficient… and a little cruel in the best way. I love watching you work."

The road is quiet once more. No more ambushes dare approach. The Azure Kingdom capital is now only two days away — and your beloved younger brother Lukas is waiting there, still unaware that his older brother is the reason the Goddess denied him blessings… and that the true Wish Djinn is coming to find him.

The wagons roll on under the warm suns. Mira walks right beside you, sack of frogs bumping lightly against her hip
