Chapter 24 - Unnamed

Chapter 24: A fight? Snape wants to make a promise

Severus Snape's office.

Aaron didn't know why Severus had called him here, and Severus had made him wait for nearly twenty minutes.

However, Severus was indeed a Potion Master. The shelves in the room were filled with glass bottles and jars, and most of the rare Potion ingredients that were scarce on the market could be found here.

Not only ingredients, but there were also many finished Potions here.

"Alas! Professor Snape displays things so openly, he's definitely going to get robbed someday.

If these items could be taken out of Hogwarts, they would surely sell for tens of thousands of Galleons, enough to live lavishly for three to five years without a problem," Aaronmuttered to himself.

After he finished speaking, he suddenly felt a chill on his neck. A long shadow was cast on the wall, and from the style of the robe and the hair draped by the ears, it wasn't hard to guess who it was.

"Hehe! Professor, I'm just being honest. Don't you have any traps here?"

"Stop being glib." Snape glared at him and sat down at his desk. "Do you know why I called you here?"

"How would I know?" Aaron said, speechless. If he knew, why would he come?

"You know Harry Potter became Gryffindor's Seeker, right?"

"I know! The whole of Hogwarts is buzzing about it, but what does that have to do with me?"

"I want you to be Slytherin's Seeker."

"I refuse!" Aaron said immediately, his tone particularly firm.

Playing in a match, what a joke. Such a prominent thing should belong to the Savior, Harry Potter. He had no interest in it.

Moreover, Quidditch matches were quite dangerous. If he accidentally made a mistake and injured a student, he would probably have to pay a large medical bill.

Perhaps to others, this was an opportunity to show off, an honor, but to him, it was a thankless task.

"Why? You have the talent." Snape was a little surprised, because almost no student disliked Quidditch. He could guarantee that if he randomly picked a first-year, no one would refuse.

But what he didn't expect was that Aaron was one of the few students who were not interested in Quidditch. He could watch a match, but play in one? Hehe!

"I just simply don't want to participate. What if I lose the match because of me?

If you really want to find a Seeker, I think Draco Malfoy is very suitable. He would definitely be eager to openly compete with Harry."

"Really? He's the one who recommended you to me.

Want to know why? He said he wasn't confident he could catch a cat on a wildly darting broom." Snape sneered, then glanced at Abey with interest. "And your cat gives me a very different feeling, especially different. Just being near it gives a warm sensation."

Abey recoiled, and Aaron immediately hugged it. "Illusion, that's absolutely an illusion."

"Hmph! Whether it's an illusion, you know better than I do." Snape sat up straight. "Currently, you are the most suitable."

"Hehe!" Aaron scoffed, curling his lips. "Professor Snape, I respect you very much, very, very much.

But you don't like Harry Potter, there's no need to drag me out to compete with him, is there?

And I think this is particularly unfair to Slytherin's original Seeker. We Slytherin also have principles; we can't disregard a student's feelings because of the Dean's personal emotions."

"Don't worry about that. I've spoken with Terencespecifically, and he will cooperate well.

As long as you can prove you are stronger than him, that's enough. It concerns Slytherin's honor, and he won't refuse to give up the Seeker position."

Aaron paused. This Terence should be Slytherin's Seeker.

"Professor, you are truly quite cunning!

However, the student whose feelings I was referring to was actually me. You can't force a student to participate in a Quidditch match he doesn't want to participate in!"

"Eh! How can this be called coercion!" Snape said indifferently. "I'm just giving you an opportunity to gain honor. This should be favoritism, shouldn't it?"

Aaron:...Whoever wants this kind of favoritism can have it, but I don't want it.

Isn't he supposed to prove he's stronger than the original Seeker? I'll just go easy then, and I don't believe I'll still make it into the team.

Snape apparently also sensed Aaron's thoughts and said indifferently, "It's settled then. Perform well!

Otherwise, I think it's necessary to remind the Principal that pets should be prohibited in sacred places like classrooms."

"You…" Aaron gave a wry smile. "Professor Snape, it's not that serious, is it?

Even if Harry is talented, he's only a first-year. He might not win against Terence."

"Why isn't it serious?

I don't know Potter's skill, but I do know Professor McGonagall. If Harry Potter wasn't capable enough, Minerva McGonagall wouldn't have chosen him as Seeker.

She was the one who first broke the rules, so why can't I change players at the last minute?

I just want to prove that Slytherin students are stronger than Gryffindor students. She has Harry Potter among her first-years, and I have Aaron Gaius among mine."

Aaron raised an eyebrow, not expecting Snape to have such high hopes for him.

"Actually, me being Seeker isn't impossible, but what are the benefits?"

Snape crossed his arms, quietly looking at Aaron, and said in a deep voice, "Quidditch scores count towards the House Cup. In that case, the value of the championship is self-evident, and you will receive the respect of all Slytherinstudents."

Aaron's mouth twitched. How was this any different from getting something for nothing?

Although he did have a task related to the House Cup, Snape didn't know that!

He wanted him to work for free without giving anything in return? Dream on.

"Professor, can we have some tangible rewards?

Your trick for fooling children stopped working on me when I was three, and I'm a rather materialistic person." Aaronsaid, glancing at the finished Potions on the shelf, his meaning clear.

Snape's mouth twitched slightly. He stood up, blocking Aaron's view. "I'm rather curious. You are the heir of the Gaius Family, no worse than the House of Malfoy. Shouldn't you have whatever you want?"

"That's true, but after starting Hogwarts, I don't want to bother the Gaius Family with everything." Aaron said, somewhat insincerely. After all, not wanting to is one thing, but no one knows how reality will turn out.

If he encountered trouble he couldn't solve in the future, he would probably have to ask the Gaius Family for help.

At this moment, he suddenly thought of Lord Voldemort's remnant soul in the task and couldn't help but look at Snapewith more scrutiny.

To be the Dean of Slytherin, his abilities must be considerable. Defeating a remnant soul should be no problem. If he could get Severus to help then, wouldn't those one thousand magic points be his?

For some reason, Snape suddenly felt a tingle on his scalp and asked coldly, "What are you thinking?"

"Nothing.

If you promise to help me unconditionally once before the end of this school year, I will agree to join the team.

Of course, I won't make it difficult for you; it will definitely be within your capabilities."

Snape's face slowly darkened. "Aaron, are you bargaining with me?"

"Hmm… you could see it that way. And I will only participate in this one Quidditch competition. I won't concern myself with future ones.

If you don't agree, then forget it."

Snape pondered for a few seconds, then nodded reluctantly. "Alright! This is a deal.

But you had better defeat Harry Potter on the field, otherwise, you know the consequences."

"I know, I know.

Honestly, Professor, you are truly contradictory. I have never seen anyone as contradictory as you.

In the first Potion Class, you were clearly apologizing to Harry Potter. Although the method was very subtle, I could tell you cared about him a lot.

If it was just that you didn't want him to know, that would be one thing, but after that, you constantly targeted him, acting as if you couldn't stand to see him do well. Can you tell me why?"

"Get out." Snape roared, pointing at the door.

Aaron still wanted to say something, but Snape's second sentence came through, "Don't make me say it a second time, get out."

"Fine, I'll go." Aaron immediately stood up and walked out.

Just as Aaron was about to step out the door, Snapesuddenly spoke, "Oh, and Mr. Gaius, you had best not inquire too much about my affairs. It won't do you any good."

"Don't worry, my curiosity isn't that strong, and I'm not interested in your past.

Consider it… my respect for you!"

After Aaron left, Snape smiled bitterly in his office. "What an annoying little Wizard."
