Chapter 23 The Birth of a New Generation of Seekers
Malfoy picked up a transparent sphere Neville had dropped on the lawn, lightly weighed it twice, and laughed, "Did you see his face?"
If that fat boy squeezed this ball, he would remember to land on his butt."
Many students laughed, and the Slytherin's laughter was particularly obvious.
"Give me the ball, Malfoy," Harry walked over and said.
"No, I'm going to hide it and let Neville find it," Malfoy said, then mounted his broom and circled for a while before flying high into the sky. "What's wrong, Potter, can't you reach it?"
Harry glared at him, grabbed his broom, and mounted it.
Just as he was about to take off, Hermione called out to him, "Harry, absolutely not. Professor Hooch just said so, and besides, you don't even know how to fly yet."
Harry ignored her, pushed off the ground, and flew straight towards Malfoy.
"What an idiot," Hermione said, exasperated.
"Another Wizard with a talent for flying," Aaron looked up at the scene, feeling a bit emotional.
"Aaron, stop watching and quickly tell Malfoy to come down. He should listen to you."
"Uh... Hermione, you might have misunderstood something.
Didn't you just advise Harry? Did he listen?"
"This..."
"Right! He's my friend, not my servant.
Out of friendship, he might listen to my opinion, but in fact, I have no right to order him to do anything," Aaron patiently explained.
"But... they..." Hermione looked at the two people on brooms high in the sky, a worried expression on her face.
"It's alright. At most, this can only be considered a prank between students. Professor Hooch was just trying to scare them," Aaron said calmly.
If students were expelled for such a minor matter as using a flying broom during Flying Class when the teacher wasn't present, Hogwarts would probably have less than half its students left, and among the expelled students, Gryffindor, who loved pranks the most, would definitely account for more than half.
Furthermore, of the two people riding brooms, one was the son of a board member, and the other was the boy who survived the prophecy. Dumbledore would not expel either of them.
A moment later, Harry steadied his broom and stopped opposite Malfoy. "Give it to me quickly, or I'll knock you down."
"Quite a big talk."
Harry didn't waste any words and immediately reached out to snatch it.
But just as he was about to touch the Remembrall, Malfoygrabbed his broom and performed a three-hundred-and-sixty-degree spin, perfectly dodging him.
As soon as Harry turned his broom around, Malfoy turned his head and provocatively tossed the Remembrall in his hand. "Then you just watch!"
With that! Malfoy forcefully threw the Remembrall into the distance, and Harry's pupils slightly widened as he controlled his broom to accelerate and chase after it.
Seeing this, Aaron frowned slightly. Draco's actions were indeed a bit excessive.
The mischievous child has been spoiled too much, and it will probably take a lot of effort to set him straight.
Harry's talent for flying was quite good. Although it was his first time using a magic broom, he used it extremely skillfully, catching the Remembrall just as it was about to hit the wall of the Castle.
And, coincidentally, this scene was captured by Professor McGonagall, who was working, because if Harry hadn't caught the Remembrall in time, it would have landed right in Professor McGonagall's office.
After Harry landed on the lawn with the Remembrall, the Gryffindor students all cheered and ran over, praising Harryfor doing a good job.
As they cheered, Professor McGonagall walked over quickly, looked deeply at Harry Potter, and said, "Harry Potter, come with me."
Draco and his two henchmen saw Harry following Professor McGonagall with his head down and let out mocking laughter.
"Is it funny?" Aaron asked.
"Of course, this is Harry Potter's own doing. Maybe he'll be expelled tomorrow," Draco laughed, already thinking about how to celebrate when he got back.
"I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you. This is just a small problem.
Professor McGonagall is the Dean of Gryffindor and would not expel a student from her own House for this reason," Aaron said, pouring cold water on Malfoy's excited heart.
"Hmph! That only means he's lucky, then."
"Perhaps! But you really shouldn't have thrown Neville's Remembrall away," Aaron said seriously.
"What do you mean?" Malfoy frowned.
What did Professor Snape say about Harry Potter in Class? That fame alone isn't enough.
The House of Malfoy, as one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, has always been the representative of Pure-blood. In other words, the reputation of your House of Malfoy is no worse than Harry Potter's. This is the reputation your family has accumulated over thousands of years.
And what you just did was tantamount to tarnishing your family's name. Although Draco throwing Neville's Remembrall is insignificant, what if Draco were replaced by the heir of the House of Malfoy?
Those who know would think this is a prank, but those who don't might think you're bullying people by relying on your power!
Oh, right, I remember the Longbottom family is also one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight."
"I..." Malfoy was stunned for a moment, then fell silent. He had never thought of these things.
Spoiled since childhood, Draco experienced something else that fame brought him for the first time: pressure.
Thinking of this, Malfoy suddenly became a little uneasy. "I understand. I won't do these things again in the future."
"Good that you understand." Aaron was very satisfied with his persuasion, but this couldn't really be called persuasion. Pure-blood families should indeed defend their family's honor, and there's nothing wrong with that.
On the other side, Harry was led by Professor McGonagallto the door of the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classclassroom.
"Wait here," Professor McGonagall said to Harry, then walked in herself.
"Professor Quirrell, excuse me, may I speak with Wood for a moment?"
Professor Quirrell, who was lecturing students while holding a large chameleon, suddenly trembled. After understanding, he immediately nodded, "Yes, yes, of course."
An older Class student, with a Gryffindor emblem pinned to his Wizard robe, followed Professor McGonagall out of the classroom.
Professor McGonagall led him to Harry Potter and explained, "Potter, this is Oliver Wood.
Wood, I've found you a Seeker."
"What?" Harry Potter looked bewildered. Wasn't he supposed to be punished? How did he suddenly become a Seeker?
Also, was it really appropriate for him, someone who didn't even know what a Seeker was, to be a Seeker?
However, seeing the excited faces of Professor McGonagalland Wood, he wisely kept his thoughts to himself... The news of Harry Potter becoming the Seeker for the Gryffindor Quidditch team was not kept secret for long, and by evening, it was known throughout the school.
By rights, first-year students were not eligible to participate in Quidditch matches, but this was nothing to Professor McGonagall, the Dean of Gryffindor, who loved Quidditchimmensely.
She went directly to Dumbledore and easily got him to make an exception.
This might be because Dumbledore also graduated from Gryffindor, and Gryffindor hadn't won the House Cup in too long. A Quidditch championship could add a lot of points to the House!
After dinner, Ron and Harry walked down the corridor, both looking particularly excited.
"A Seeker? The House team has never taken a first-year student.
You must be the youngest player."
"Yes, and the youngest in a hundred years, Professor McGonagall said. She wants me to train next week."
The twin brothers George and Fred appeared behind them at some point, and one of them said excitedly, "Brilliant, Harry, Wood told us."
"Fred and George are also on the team, as Beaters," Ronexplained.
The other twin brother said, "Our job is to make sure you don't get knocked crooked.
But it's impossible for nothing to happen, Quidditch is very brutal."
"It's brutal, but no one has ever died. Occasionally someone goes missing after a match, but they reappear after a month or two."
Hearing this, Harry's expression changed slightly. He didn't know that this sport, loved by almost all Wizards, carried such a great risk. Was it still not too late to quit?
It should be too late! After all, it had already spread like wildfire and was known to everyone. Once he proposed to quit the team, it would be equivalent to losing face completely.
Ron noticed the expression on Harry's face and persuaded him, "Go for it, Harry! Quidditch is exciting, the most thrilling, and you're the best."
"But I've never played Quidditch. What if I make a fool of myself?" Harry said worriedly.
Hermione, who was reading, walked over and laughed, "You won't make a fool of yourself! You have inherited talent."
Saying that, she led the two of them to the GryffindorQuidditch memorial, where the name of James Potter, Harry Potter's father, was carved, and he had served as a Seeker on the House team.
