They all used teleportation to get to the entrance. The Knight took a step beyond its boundary, it felt so freeing, more than a hundred years ago there was a force so great that nothing could oppose it and now the Knight just strolled right through it. Outside was full of darkness probably night, but in this specific region it was the void making it darker, the Knight remembered that as soon as daylight hit it would all vanish.
The Knight could still summon it but only if it was within, otherwise it might have to wait until its night once more for it to come back. The reason the Knight could summon it was because there was only darkness in there, after all, the Beginning and End created the light to oppose the darkness even if it was made of the same thing. I wonder which void creature destroyed the mood, it was probably to avoid the moonlight, otherwise normal types of light have little to no effect, even lightning or fire cannot penetrate the void, the Knight maybe, but not the void.
So, coming out at night was lucky, while the Knight might be a void creature, it does not have to leave when the night disappears as the night does since the Knights soul is mostly complete, it is not too infused with the void. When the Knight was human, it had been taken with the void creatures because the puny pure soul covered by those numerous void souls that it was taken and bound to them, but now that its soul has been manifested into a dreaded one, which is actually a vile one, it can stay without the void or darkness.
Thus, when day comes the Knight won't be spirited away to the void as other void beings do, and this will be helpful in its plans to convince the humans its human. After all, the Knight may not have its memories, but it had the hero skill, and that skill has always hinted that the Knight was defending someone unforced, even though it has been over two hundred years, it does not mean the humans won't still have its sword, at best it might be in an antique shop, since it's still assessed as equipped.
After two millennia, it could be with the other races, but mostly the first clue ought to lie somewhere with the humans, and the Knight will not be able to gather any information if they are too frightened to speak, Folisha was too loose lipped because of that monster eater skill. too bad she didn't know anything about a sword that was resembling the Knights soul, she did live in a village, they would not be privy to everything that is in a random old shop, or just randomly sitting in a field, patiently waiting for its Knight.
The day came while the Knight was still teleporting around looking for the village, from there because of Folisha, the Knight would know where to find the capital. But when daylight came, granted the night was a little longer when the area was covered by the void, being reluctant to leave, the Knight felt blinded. It was a relieving sense of powerlessness.
The Knight had spent hundreds of years in darkness, so it had not given it much thought. The monsters had problems in the darkness, and relied on their senses, but they were completely blinded in the void, now the Knight was being forced to be so powerless too. The void retreated back to the mouth of the cave promising to fall upon the world as soon as night fell.
After a while stumbling in the dark… in the light. The Knights used sense manipulation, and battle monger to enhance its senses, even the medallion was helpful. Then the Knight could see once more after playing with the vision of its soul. One strange thing the Knight had expected, was the vile army to disappear with the void, but it seems their vessels gave them a measure of protection.
That got the Knight thinking that maybe after all, the reason it's not vanishing is because its body is more like a vessel too. The army seemed to thrive, their monster senses made them even deadlier, and because of this and random teleportation the Knight finally found the village. Tyun stumbled upon it and they all converged on its position.
The place was abandoned, a forgotten land. The buildings were a strange mixture of which did not bring the Knight any form of nostalgia, thus this change must have been fairly recent, or possibly came after it was gone. The buildings were made of steel, resembling fortresses, but here and there, there would be stone would be mystic stone columns. It terms of architecture, it was like an ancient Greek build, with some parts been improved by metal. Some areas would have huge flat areas with carvings on it. It was such a forlorn place.
Multiple sand dunes, contrasting with the encroaching fauna. It was bright green leaves, golden brown sand, dull and dusty, grey plates of iron around the place, an impressive obsidian gate that had been moved open, showcasing its intricate engravings slightly at an angle. There was an awe inspiring carve of fire on the arch of most of the buildings.
There were bolts having been integrated into the design. There was a huge square at the centre, from its centre was a huge tower. It was like one of the Greeks came to the modern era and came back to improve on the stone-based architecture, but by the looks of it it's more like the modern era reused ancient architecture to hold the place together. There must have been something that needed them to, that would also explain the carvings.
There buildings were built crammed into each other, extending down, but not too deep, and up, but not too high. Everything seems to be centred around making the village as small as possible. There were exceptions, a few buildings had a yard, a small one, and the building was not connected to any top or bottom, Arduo probably lived in one of these.
Another exception was the building in the centre; it was the only one that extended above the barricade around the whole village. Probably where Nick's grandfather stayed. The Knight explored the place looking for anything that might be useful to no avail. They have taken everything except the buildings themselves.
'I guess the scouting crew not coming back after more than a hundred years was enough of a sign to high tail it out of here.'
Now all the Knight has to do is search for the road near here, that's what Folisha said the caravans that passed by to transport goods, even though they came once a month. The Knight found nothing, it has been a hundred years, of course the tracks are gone. Then the knight had to look for the dent in the walls that Folisha said had been caused by a rampaging monster, and a few steps from it, with a straight shot, the Knight would get to the closest capital. That's what Folisha said, in no time at all, the Knight found it, it was searching with five extra pairs of eyes after all, more if you include the ones on Tyun's body. There was a dent, but the rust had mostly removed it, it must have been huge once.
'Folisha was not exaggerating about the size of the monster.'
So, the Knight teleported in a straight line, once again covered by the void at night, using Tyun's skill to keep the Knights senses moving in a straight line. Then still covered by night the Knight finally reached the boundary of the void. The Knight did not know just how much void it had claimed compared to other void lords but now knowing that in all directions from the entrance of the dungeon, the void reached this far out, made it realise that the void contained within that dungeon was truly frightening, for the world anyway, a delight for the Knight, maybe?
Stopping at the boundary that the void had hit, this is not where the void extended but it was where it hit the secondary fortress, there was probably humans on the inside. By the looks of the sides, looks like the void continued until the centre of this massive city. The village was a pebble compared to this place. Its borders were bolder, and the engravings had a slight glow, without its void sight the Knight would have not seen the faint glow. Somehow this was preventing the Knight from teleporting inside, the gate was all the way on the other side, not covered in the void, but the Knight wanted to enter on the side covered by the void. If failing to convince them, the Knight wanted to use Daunting.
Crossing the border through teleportation might be impossible, these boundaries extended to over a hundred kilometres and a couple kilometres wide, and made to still allow light in, it reminded the Knight of Mugaw who has been silent for a while now. The Knight focused and absorbed some of the void and started punching the border, it was not moving and it was producing a lot of noise. The Knight was trying not to alarm the people, so now that noise had been made, it gave up on such attempts and activated Daunting for the first time.
Time stopped as if to stare. Then the glow vanished, the world inside the void submitted. The Knight then teleported inside and told its army to wait outside. Then the Knight turned it off. If the wall had some sort of power running through it, stopping it for a second or two was probably noticed. Walking forward, the Knight only hoped that it was not noticed. The streets were empty and daylight was still aways off, not that much distance was left for the Knight to have to teleport, so it walked, slowly, taking in the strange and empty sites.
