Amongst some of these keen insights the Knight read from the book some are recalled here:
The souls are quite an extensive topic, reaching far into the truths of the world. First to allow further understanding about souls and their nature, something must be added to their nature or history to help further facilitate understanding. There are three worlds in existence: the void, the world of the living, and the realms.
The void is not a simple plain of existence, more like a plain of non-existence where many things that are not supposed to exist, exist. They are not alive but resemble a state of existence as long as reality is a concept. If anything exists in the other worlds then something surely will allow the paradoxical existence of the void. It is a state of nothing that everything could and can be made from, in no way real. It is not what nothing is, but rather what everything should be. It is knowing something that has no reason to exist, but merely knowing it exists allows it to.
The void can never be truly a void as long as existence exists. That is what makes it paradoxical. The existence of things allows it to interfere with them and in doing so it becomes a form of existence. As strange as it is it exist, because things exist, but as reality is it is not, it's not real. Everything is made from nothing, thus as long as everything exists, nothing will, and this existence is a result of nothing existing because nothing is part of everything, but existing in its state of nothingness.
The next world to be explained would one of the most substantial for explanation of souls. The realms. This is a plain where souls' dwell. It is conceived of multiple realms, countless. The most common being the realm of pure souls and the realm of suffering. The realms are also where souls begin and end. Once made a soul is sent to the world of the living, after death it comes here. The souls have options of which realm to spend eternity in bliss in. The souls that have rampaged through existence are all sent to the realm of suffering until they are reformed. It is called the realm of suffering, but the more accurate saying is realm of reformation.
Just like ore, the souls that have become malicious in nature, are sent here, where the souls are impounded and removed of any impurities, being sent to the realm of pure souls. There are of course multiple types of souls, some might not be pure, but they do not need to be reformed, while they cannot enter some of the other realms freely as the pure souls can, they can enter other areas. These souls are also incapable of rebirth, unless they go to the reformation realm.
Pure souls are important, not because they are righteous, but because they have not allowed impurities to alter their composition, they have remained steadfast and true to their composition and thus in death they have the right to enter any realm, including the realm of reformation. Another popular realm is the realm of rebirth. If a being from the land of the living dies, and they are still a pure soul, they can reincarnate to a planet in the land of the living. They can negotiate the terms with the guardians. Even purified souls that come from the realm of reform can chose to be rebirthed as long as it's a pure soul once more.
The next world of the living. This is one is where new souls come to live. Life allows souls to become the souls they can be. The existence then allows experience of having been thrown into a world and making your way through it. Some souls get impurities, some thrive, some fall, some wane but come back to their pure states. In terms of composition, this is where a soul comes to form itself into the composition that it wants to become.
Some souls just pass through and end up at the realms still as pure souls, never having altered their forms. Some of these impurities are welcomed as they are growth for the soul. Impurities do not translate into a damned soul; they only constrict it or improve it. The improved ones enter the realms simply, whilst those that have improved might not have be able to be reborn, they are better for it because they have become fulfilled beyond prospect. What qualifies these changes in souls is intricate and cannot be just decided on a standard. Souls are able to adapt and change.
This allows them to become what they want to. Some never change, some change for the best, while others change but not into what they wanted, and these are the souls that are reformed, to undo what damage they have encored on their souls and once purified they can try once again. The process of reformation varies and can be short or take ages.
There is more information about the world, but the rest is included further. Next, we will explain how souls interreact with each other. The simple's interaction is between the world of the living and the world of realms, mostly known as the spirit world. When a soul refuses to die even after its living vessel had been destroyed, they become spirits. They can vary in behaviour and cause, mild to vengeful. They stay on the world of the living, but they are unable to interact with it. But once this apparition becomes strong enough it can start to move light object slowly increasing until they can touch the living and even take their vessels.
But because they are foreign entities they have to continuously exert a force to not get uprooted from the world. Other spirits can come to the land of the living without having to become rebirthed and lose their memories, which is if they have received permission, one reason being to offer guidance to a soul in need. Some souls are strong enough to force their way, but this method can taint their souls.
In their realms, there are omnipotent souls given absolute authority on what can leave and enter only. There are laws but none that need to be enforced, souls are merely incapable of refusing them regardless of their power. Souls that leave back to the world of the living have to use these gateways, but without permission making it through is perilous. The realms are as multitudinous as planets and starts in the realm of the living, each peculiar and different, all one world.
The world of the living has no rulers to decide who enters and leaves, but it does have gateways, these even more perilous than the ones from the realms, some being black holes. They themselves supervene on their rules. The other way to come to the realms with the vessel intact, is to come as a spectator soul, one that has been led in by a resident who has gained permission, and the strength of a being determines how much it can interact with the realms. Both these worlds were created and supervised by one being. But after making them self-sufficient and given its servers authority to handle affairs, it has become passive, and only acting on whims, needs, situation, and own discretion. It had changed a few things over the years but mostly remained an observer.
There are strange cases, like for example a pure soul can rebirth immediately, without entering the realms, and retain its memories, and be sent to another planet, in a distant universe with a different set of laws. These are only done at the favour of the angels, or the Beginning and End.
Then comes the third world. It is barely even considered a world. This plain of existence is the void. It is actually a creation of the concept that watched the conception of reality and has chosen to meddle in the worlds created by the Beginning and End, since he has chosen to become mostly an observer. It created these paradoxical concepts of existence; they resemble souls but are not. They infected the world of the living and the realms.
Souls destroyed by void creatures are gone, they meet oblivion and never to be in the cycle of death and rebirth. Souls are created, birthed, die, and chose eternal peace or rebirth. The plains are infinite in conceivability. It is hard to move between realms as it is to move between planets, while not the same they are similar. The void does not possess this conundrum. It created a world dull, but enough to allow interactions of those of the void, even though they are split by such barriers.
The story goes that, the one of the void, got jealous of the peace and joy in the two worlds that were created. It lacked this capability; imagination is the best way to put it. So, it conspired to take all of it. It then started to infect it with influence, over time it learned enough to make itself a world, this one however was not the same, it did not have souls, so it made souls, but still, it could not. This confused it since everything that the Beginning and End had made was made from the void itself, then why could the void not make it. That was what it thought as it realised that it needed the vision of which its own it did not have.
After countless attempts finally it decided to take souls copy them and then set out with the poor imitations to destroy all that the Beginning and End had made, and take it all back into itself, they were made from it after all. That was how the void started to invade, it did not care about barriers or supervenes, it just kept taking and taking.
This is merely the results of the research of the greatest minds, even as the book of souls, I do not possess the full accord, the book of history does. Some questions to this story are why does the Beginning and End only watch? Why does the void need void creatures to accomplish this? Why did it even allow its non-existence to become the of form existence to begin with? And many others.
That matters not in here, the story is merely to give an idea as to why void creatures were conceived. Myriads of details about the realms, the celestial bodies like planets on the world of the living were added to the Knight. There were details about how souls interact with the gateways and more. Other subtle lessons were added, anything and everything that relates to souls was explained in detail. Then there was the strange section tailored for the Knight. The Knight in truth is a singular existence.
Its soul was created as pure as any other, it lived the life which it had forgotten, maybe even a couple of rebirths, but a completely normal soul life. In one of this existence(s) while in the living world the Knights soul was about to be destroyed and consumed by the void, it was also on the verge of death and about to go to the realms possibly, but then the light came.
Truthfully, or at least an academic guess, the void does not fear the light, neither does it dislike it, it is just that out of all things that made up everything, all of it coming from nothing, from the void, including light itself, the Light is the first thing ever made and its concept is such that it embodies more about the Beginning and End that it does the Void, that it had a property that makes it resistant to becoming part of the void.
It is a concept that furthest removed from nothingness; thus, the void has decided that light will be the last thing it will consume and make sure that it savours it. That is why when the light encroached upon the world right at the precipice of the life of the Knight the void took its mock souls out of the world of the living. This was strange a soul caught between the three worlds, and the void was pulling the most, then its soul had its own kind of reforging, it was chocked full of impurities and changed completely instead of the usual purification.
Sure, pure does not mean good, and bad is not an expression of impurity, these just happen to happen simultaneously in most cases, but they are mutually exclusive. However, when looking at the soul of the boy, reforged over millions of years in the time of the living, but probably even longer in the scale of eternity, this soul was so infected by the void, becoming the first and only ever soul to become a void dweller, the furthest thing from pure, so reality and the three worlds decided to name this soul vile, and to accommodate the armour and sword that are eternally bonded to it, it was dubbed the Vile Knight.
