Chapter 5 - Episode 5: The Distance You Didn’t Explain

🌈✨Everything changed.

Not slowly.

Not gently.

But all at once.

Meher stopped sitting next to Aarohi.

Stopped calling.

Stopped looking at her like she mattered.

At first, Aarohi told herself—

She's just busy.

Something's wrong.

She'll come back.

But days passed.

And Meher didn't.

"Did you fight with her?"

Aarohi looked up.

Her friend frowned.

"You and Meher. You've been… weird."

Aarohi forced a small smile.

"No. Nothing like that."

But everything felt like that.

Across the room—

Meher laughed.

With Rhea.

That sound—

it didn't feel familiar anymore.

Because it wasn't the laugh Meher had with her.

It was lighter. Easier.

Like Aarohi had never existed.

That's when it hit her.

Maybe…

she was the only one who thought it meant something.

💔 That Evening…

Aarohi couldn't take it anymore.

She found Meher outside the campus.

"Can we talk?"

Meher didn't even hesitate.

"No."

One word.

Cold. Sharp.

Aarohi blinked.

"Meher, what—"

"I said no, Aarohi."

The way she said her name—

like it meant nothing.

Aarohi felt her chest tighten.

"Did I do something wrong?"

Meher looked away.

"Stop making everything about you."

That hurt.

Too much.

"I'm not," Aarohi's voice trembled.

"I just want to understand why you're acting like I don't exist!"

Meher laughed.

But there was no humor in it.

"Because maybe you don't."

Silence.

Aarohi froze.

"W-what?"

Meher finally looked at her.

And this time—

there was no softness.

No warmth.

Nothing.

"It was a mistake," she said flatly.

"Whatever you thought was happening between us… it wasn't real."

The world stopped.

Aarohi shook her head slowly.

"No… you don't mean that."

"I do."

"Then look at me and say it again."

Meher didn't hesitate.

Didn't flinch.

"I don't feel anything for you."

And just like that—

Aarohi broke.

Not loudly.

Not dramatically.

But quietly.

Completely.

"Okay," she whispered.

And that one word—

hurt Meher more than anything else.

But she didn't stop her.

Didn't call her back.

Didn't fix it.

Because this was the only way.

💔 Later That Night…

Aarohi sat on her bed.

Phone in her hand.

No tears left.

She opened their chat.

Scrolled through everything—

every message… every memory.

Then finally typed—

Aarohi: I hope one day… you regret this.

She stared at it for a long time.

Then deleted it.

Because even now—

she couldn't hurt Meher.

So instead, she sent—

Aarohi: Take care.

Seen.

No reply.

Across the city—

Meher sat in the dark.

Tears silently falling.

Her phone lit up.

That message.

Her hands trembled.

But she didn't reply.

Because loving Aarohi…

meant losing her.

And this time—

she made sure Aarohi would never come back.
