Chapter 46 - Chapter XLVI: Legend!

They were laying there, hugged to each other, naked.

Close.

Still.

Kate opened her eyes slowly.

For a second, she didn't move.

Just breathed.

Then she looked down.

A pause—

Her eyes widened.

"...shit."

She pulled the blanket up quickly, her body tensing as she sat up slightly, looking around like she needed to make sense of it.

Ray stirred beside her, still half asleep.

"…what?" he mumbled.

Kate didn't answer right away.

Just stared down again.

Processing.

"…why am I naked?"

"Stupid question." Ray said as he closed his eyes again.

Kate stared at him.

"…seriously?"

He didn't respond.

Already drifting again.

Kate looked down once more, gripping the blanket tighter around herself.

Her face heated up slightly.

"…oh my god."

Ray didn't seem to care a lot, as after a few seconds he started snoring.

Kate looked at him.

Her eyes narrowed slightly as she watched him—completely out, like nothing had happened.

"…of course you are," she muttered under her breath.

She shifted slightly, still holding the blanket close, glancing down once more—

Then quickly looking away again.

Her face still warm.

Than the memories started coming back...

"Fuck."

She started blushing even harder.

Her grip on the blanket tightened.

She looked at him again—

Still asleep.

Still snoring.

Like none of it mattered.

Kate quickly looked away, pressing her lips together.

"…oh my god," she muttered again, her face burning now.

he... he fingered me.

Kate froze.

Her eyes fixed somewhere ahead, like saying it out loud made it real in a completely different way.

Her face burned even more.

She slowly pulled the blanket tighter around herself, like that would somehow undo it.

"…fuck," she whispered again, quieter this time.

Ray snored.

Unbothered.

Kate glanced at him—

Then immediately looked away, pressing her lips together, not sure what to do with herself.

he... he fingered me.

As she took a big breath, she slid from the bed. As she walked up naked to her wardrobe. Than she took some clothes as fast as her hands could move and ran towards the bathroom.

The door shut quickly behind her.

She leaned against it for a second.

Breathing.

Fast.

Then she started dressing, hands moving almost automatically.

Pulling on clothes like it would somehow reset everything.

"…what the hell did we do…" she muttered under her breath.

Pieces came back.

Too clearly.

She froze for a second mid-motion.

"…okay… okay…"

She shook her head slightly, finishing quickly.

No more thinking.

Not now.

A second later, the door opened just a bit—

She peeked out.

Ray was still asleep.

Still snoring.

Kate slipped out quietly.

Careful steps.

Then out of the cabin.

The morning air hit her instantly.

Cool.

Fresh.

She exhaled.

And walked toward breakfast like nothing happened.

As she arrived soon after, she realized... how long did they sleep if it's 8 am already? Jesus they've been back to camp at 7 pm!!!

Kate slowed down.

"…wait."

Her brows furrowed slightly as she looked around.

8 am.

She blinked.

"…there's no way."

They barely made it back—

And now it was morning?

Her mind tried to piece it together.

Failed.

"…we didn't sleep that long…" she muttered, more to herself.

A small pause.

Then she exhaled, rubbing her face lightly.

"…did we?"

She glanced back in the direction of the cabin for a second—

Then quickly looked away again.

No.

Not thinking about that right now.

She stepped forward toward breakfast.

As she looked over the tables, she decided to go sit with Mia, Marco and Lia.

They noticed her almost immediately.

Mia raised an eyebrow.

Marco leaned back slightly in his chair.

Lia just watched her quietly.

Kate slowed down just a bit—

Then sat down like nothing was off.

"…morning," she said, reaching for something on the table without really looking at any of them.

A small pause.

Mia smirked.

"Rough night?"

Kate didn't look up.

"…shut up."

Marco let out a short laugh.

"Damn, it was that bad?"

Kate grabbed a cup, taking a sip just to avoid answering.

Lia tilted her head slightly, still observing.

"Or good?" she added calmly.

Kate choked slightly on her drink.

"…I hate all of you."

Mia grinned wider.

"It's just... we heard some... ekhm. Moans..." Mia muttered.

Kate froze.

Just for a second—

Her hand stopping mid-air.

Marco leaned back, already smirking.

"Oh, we heard," he said casually.

Kate slowly set her cup down.

"…you're imagining things."

Mia raised both eyebrows.

"Uh huh."

A small pause.

Then she leaned in just a bit.

"Pretty clearly, actually."

Kate's face heated up instantly.

"…eat your food."

"So... Did he slap that ass, hold it or...?"

Mia and Kate rolled their eyes as Dylan approached the table and started high fiving Marco, dying of laughter.

Kate closed her eyes for a second.

"…you're all children."

Dylan dropped into the seat, still laughing.

"Come on, don't act like that didn't happen."

Marco nodded, grinning.

"Oh it definitely happened."

Kate grabbed her cup again, taking a longer sip this time just to avoid looking at them.

Mia smirked, watching her closely.

"Look at her face."

Kate pointed at her without even looking.

"Don't."

Dylan leaned forward slightly, still amused.

"So which one was it?"

Kate slammed the cup down a bit harder than needed.

"…none of your business."

Marco and Dylan exchanged a look—

Then both started laughing again.

And that's when—

"RAY, MY FUCKING MAN! You're a fucking legend!" Marco shouted across the tables as he spotted him approaching from the cabin, already smirking.

Ray slowed slightly mid-step.

Like he immediately knew this was about to be bad.

He kept walking anyway.

Trying to look normal.

Failing a little.

Marco got up halfway, laughing.

"There he is!"

Dylan joined in, grinning.

"Bro didn't even make it to breakfast first."

Ray rubbed the back of his neck, already regretting everything.

Then his eyes landed on Kate.

And he tried—really tried—not to smile.

"…morning," he said, quieter now.

Kate didn't answer.

Just looked at him.

Ray shifted slightly.

Then moved toward the table anyway.

And he... sat next to her as he kissed her cheek without saying anything.

Kate froze for a split second.

Her shoulders tensing—

Then not pulling away.

Mia's eyes widened slightly.

"Oh—wow."

Marco leaned back, grinning like he just got confirmation.

"Yeah, okay. That's real."

Dylan let out a short laugh, shaking his head.

"No shame at all."

Kate didn't look at any of them.

Her face heating up again, but she stayed still.

Ray didn't say anything either.

Just sat there.

Like that was normal now.

Across the tables—

Jake saw it.

And went still.

"…you've got to be kidding me."

Zoe grabbed his arm lightly.

"Hey—don't."

Emma nodded quickly, trying to keep him seated.

"Just leave it."

Jake didn't move.

His jaw tightening as he kept staring.

Zoe glanced back toward Ray and Kate—

Then smirked just a little.

"…well," she muttered under her breath, "that escalated."

And as if they thought they could tame Jake's inner beast... he screamed. "RAY YOU'RE MY FUCKING HERO!"

Kate flinched.

Mia burst out laughing.

Marco hit the table once, losing it.

Dylan leaned back, shaking his head.

Ray tried to hold it—

Failed.

A grin broke through anyway.

Kate glanced at him.

Then away again.

Across the tables, Zoe let out a quiet laugh, Emma just sighing in relief as Jake dropped back into his seat, still grinning.

And that's when Julia arrived.

Right on cue.

Clapping her hands once to get attention.

"Morning, degenerates," she called out, scanning the group.

Her eyes landed on Jake.

"Already screaming before breakfast? Impressive."

A few laughs spread.

Julia shook her head slightly.

"Alright, listen up—"

The noise settled down.

Kate stared at her plate.

Ray sat beside her.

Still smiling, just a little.
