H₂O – A True Story of a Drop of Water
In a small village near Dhaka, there lived a boy named Rafi. A narrow river flowed beside his home. Every day, he played with the water, splashing and laughing, never thinking about what it really was made of.
One day in school, his science teacher wrote on the board: H₂O.
He also mentioned the great scientist Jagadish Chandra Bose while explaining the importance of science in everyday life.
Rafi raised his hand and asked,
"Sir, what does H₂O mean?"
The teacher smiled and said,
"It's the real identity of water. Two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom combine to make water—the very thing we cannot live without."
That day, Rafi went home and sat beside the river, thinking deeply.
"This simple water… is actually something so important!"
A few days later, a problem hit the village. The river water became polluted, and people started getting sick. Even Rafi's little sister fell ill.
Rafi remembered his teacher's words—
Water is not just H₂O, it is life.
He decided to take action. He gathered the villagers and encouraged them to clean their water sources. He taught them to boil water before drinking and to keep their surroundings clean.
Slowly, things began to change. People got better. The village became healthier again.
One day, his teacher came and said,
"Rafi, you didn't just learn H₂O… you understood its true value."
Rafi smiled and looked at the river, saying,
"Sir, water is not just a formula… it is our life."
