The Shadow Behemoth roared with raw fury, its remaining tentacles thrashing like black whips. The second Sovereign — covered in glowing violet runes — moved with cold precision, its every step calculated and ancient.
Kai stood between Elena and Sophia, hands resting possessively on their waists. The void inside him surged with dark excitement.
Two Sovereigns… Perfect.
Elena trembled against his left side, cheeks flushed with shame as Kai's aura made her body react against her will. Sophia gripped her rifle tightly on his right, jaw clenched in frustration at the heat building inside her.
Kai's voice was low and cold.
"Stay behind me."
The Behemoth attacked first.
It charged with earth-shaking steps, all tentacles whipping forward at once. The air screamed as they cut through the ruins.
Kai exploded into motion.

The 35-meter circle of swirling purple-black energy erupted around him. His stats skyrocketed. He vanished with Shadow Step and reappeared on the Behemoth's flank.

His glowing talons tore through armored flesh, carving deep gashes. Black blood sprayed like rain. The Behemoth roared in pain and swung three tentacles at him simultaneously.
Kai chained Shadow Step twice in rapid succession, dodging the first two while slashing the third in half. He landed on the creature's back, slammed both palms down and activated Void Drain at full power.
Dark tendrils exploded outward, sinking deep into its body. The Behemoth howled as its life force was violently ripped away.

The surge made Kai's eyes burn brighter. He laughed — a dark, chilling sound.
But the rune-covered Sovereign didn't wait.

Kai used Shadow Step to blink between the runes, draining some with his palms while dodging others. One rune grazed his shoulder, instantly coating it in frost. Pain flared, but Void Regeneration fought back.
He redirected mid-air and charged the rune Sovereign.

He appeared right in front of its chest and slashed repeatedly. Crystalline shards flew everywhere as his claws carved deep wounds. The Sovereign countered with a point-blank violet energy blast.
Kai crossed his arms and took the hit head-on. The domain absorbed most of the force, but the impact still sent him crashing into a ruined building, concrete exploding around him.
He burst out of the debris a second later, covered in dust and blood, grinning wildly.

The two Sovereigns coordinated perfectly now.
The Behemoth smashed down with a massive tentacle while the rune Sovereign fired another barrage of runes from the side.
Kai moved like a storm.
He Shadow Stepped onto the incoming tentacle, ran up its length, and leaped toward the rune Sovereign. Mid-air, he spun and unleashed a devastating Void Claw slash that severed three runes at once. Then he slammed into the rune Sovereign's shoulder, driving both hands into its body and activating Void Drain at maximum.
The Sovereign let out a distorted scream as its runes flickered and dimmed.

Power flooded Kai's veins. His aura thickened, becoming darker and more oppressive.
Elena watched with wide eyes, her body flushing hotter with every surge of Kai's power. She pressed her thighs together tightly, trying to fight the unwanted heat spreading through her.
Sophia's breathing grew ragged. She hated how her skin prickled and her nipples tightened every time Kai grew stronger. Her grip on the rifle trembled slightly.
One freezing rune blast slipped past Kai and exploded near Sophia, sending her flying backward.
Kai reacted instantly.
He used Shadow Step at full speed, catching her mid-air and pulling her against his chest. The impact jarred them both, but he held her firmly.
For a brief second their eyes met. Sophia's face was flushed, her breath hot against his neck.
"Stay alive," Kai growled, voice dark. "I still have plans for you."
He set her down and turned back to the fight without waiting for a reply.
The Behemoth roared and charged again, tentacles whipping wildly. The rune Sovereign attacked from the opposite side with precise energy beams.

From the edge of the battlefield, a third portal began to tear open — smaller, but radiating an even more dangerous aura.
