Mallory was very embarrassed after literally crying in front of her own disciple, which made it extremely hard for her to break the silence just like that.
Never once had she thought a day like this would come. And not having anticipated it, she was caught completely off guard.
Cassius was no better.
He had never planned to say so much over a game, but he just couldn't look at his master's forlorn face and do nothing to make her smile once more.
And if, in order to smile, she first needed to cry – just as dead soil first needed water to pour down from the heavens in order to come alive again – then he would happily make it happen.
And he was right.
