Chapter 21 - Episode 21: The Name That Starts a War

The night didn't feel like night anymore.

It felt like waiting.

Waiting for something worse.

Meera Verma sat quietly in the corner of the safe house, now half-destroyed, watching Kabir Rajvansh move like a storm contained in human form.

He was on the phone again.

But this time… his voice was different.

Not calm.

Not controlled.

Final.

"Find him," Kabir said coldly.

A pause.

"I don't care how deep he's hiding."

Another pause.

"And if anyone protects him… erase them too."

Meera's fingers tightened.

She had never heard him like this before.

Not even during the attacks.

This wasn't protection anymore.

This was punishment.

When he ended the call, silence returned.

Heavy. Sharp.

Dangerous.

Meera finally spoke softly.

"Who are you looking for?"

Kabir didn't answer immediately.

That alone made her stomach tighten.

He turned slowly.

His eyes were darker than before.

"…The one behind all of this."

Meera stood up slightly.

"So it wasn't random attacks…"

Kabir shook his head once.

"No."

A pause.

"It was organized."

He stepped closer.

"And I should have seen it sooner."

Meera frowned.

"Seen what?"

Kabir's voice dropped lower.

"A name I buried years ago."

Silence.

The air itself felt heavier.

Meera whispered,

"What name?"

Kabir hesitated.

Just for a second.

But it was enough to show her… this wasn't just strategy.

This was personal.

Finally, he said it.

"Advik Rana."

The moment the name left his lips… everything changed.

Meera felt it instantly.

Even without knowing the full story.

That name carried weight.

History.

Danger.

Kabir continued quietly,

"He used to be one of my closest men."

A pause.

"Until he decided I was worth replacing."

Meera's eyes widened slightly.

"So he betrayed you…"

Kabir nodded once.

"And disappeared."

Silence fell again.

But this time… it wasn't empty.

It was full of consequences.

Meera stepped closer slowly.

"And now he's targeting me because of you?"

Kabir's jaw tightened.

"Yes."

A pause.

"But not just you."

His eyes darkened.

"He wants to destroy everything I refused to lose."

Meera understood then.

She wasn't just a victim.

She was a message.

A weapon used against him.

Her voice softened.

"So what do you do now?"

Kabir looked at her for a long moment.

And then—

For the first time… he didn't answer like a mafia boss.

He answered like a man who had already chosen destruction.

"I end him."

A silence followed that felt final.

Outside, engines roared again in the distance.

Not random.

Organized.

Approaching.

Kabir turned slightly toward the sound.

"They found us again," he said quietly.

But this time… there was no urgency in his voice.

Only certainty.

Meera looked at him.

"You said this place was safe…"

Kabir gave a faint, humorless smile.

"In my world…"

A pause.

"Nothing stays safe for long."

He walked toward the door.

But before stepping out, he looked back at her.

Longer this time.

Heavier.

Like he was memorizing her existence.

"Stay inside," he said firmly.

Meera stepped forward.

"Don't go alone."

Kabir's expression softened just slightly.

"I always go alone."

A pause.

"But not this time."

He opened the door.

Cold wind rushed in.

And before leaving completely, he said something that stayed in the air longer than his presence.

"If I don't come back…"

A pause.

"…it means I finally ended what was coming for us."

Then he was gone.

Meera stood still.

Listening to the silence that followed him.

And for the first time…

she understood the truth fully.

This wasn't just a love story.

It was a war that had already chosen its ending.

And she was standing at the center of it.

To be continued… 💔
