Chapter 24 - Episode 24: When She Ran Toward Him

The moment Kabir Rajvansh's voice echoed through the house—

Everything stopped.

"Meera!"

Her name wasn't just a call.

It was panic.

It was fear.

It was losing control.

Meera Verma stood frozen in the middle of the hallway.

Advik Rana was still behind her.

Silent.

Watching.

Waiting.

Kabir's footsteps grew louder.

Closer.

He was inside the house now.

Breaking through chaos.

Breaking through war.

Only for her.

Advik leaned slightly toward her.

"He's here," he whispered.

A pause.

"Final chance to decide."

Meera's heart pounded violently.

For a moment… she didn't move.

She just listened.

Kabir's voice again.

"Meera! Answer me!"

Closer.

Desperate.

And something inside her broke.

Not fear.

Not doubt.

Something stronger.

She moved.

Before she even fully realized it, Meera ran.

Straight toward the sound.

Straight toward him.

Straight past fear.

Advik's voice followed behind her.

"Wrong choice…"

But she didn't stop.

Meera reached the main hall—

And saw him.

Kabir Rajvansh.

Covered in dust.

Breathing hard.

Eyes searching like a man who had already lost too much.

The moment his eyes landed on her—

Everything else disappeared.

"Meera…" Kabir said again.

But this time… softer.

Relieved.

Almost broken.

She didn't think.

She ran into him.

Kabir caught her instantly.

Pulling her close.

Like he had been holding himself together just to reach this moment.

For a second…

Everything stopped.

No mafia.

No war.

No betrayal.

Just two people who had found each other in the middle of destruction.

Kabir's hand tightened slightly around her.

"Are you hurt?" he asked immediately.

Meera shook her head.

"No…"

A pause.

"But he's here."

Kabir's entire body went still.

Slowly, his gaze lifted.

Toward the hallway behind her.

Advik Rana stepped into view.

Calm.

Unshaken.

Smiling slightly.

Kabir's expression changed instantly.

Not surprise.

Recognition.

Cold.

Controlled rage.

"…You came back," Kabir said quietly.

Advik nodded once.

"I never left completely."

A pause.

"I was just waiting for you to become weak enough."

Meera felt Kabir's grip tighten around her protectively.

Not painful.

But firm.

Kabir's voice dropped dangerously low.

"You should have stayed buried."

Advik smiled.

"And miss this?"

A pause.

"Miss her?"

Meera flinched slightly at that.

Kabir noticed instantly.

His jaw tightened.

"Don't look at her," Kabir said coldly.

Advik tilted his head.

"Or what?"

A pause.

"You'll lose control again?"

That sentence hit something deep.

Meera felt it.

Kabir felt it too.

The air changed instantly.

War was no longer outside.

It was inside the room.

Kabir finally stepped forward slightly.

Still holding Meera behind him.

A shield.

A decision.

"You didn't come here for me," Kabir said.

Advik nodded.

"No."

A pause.

"I came for what you refuse to admit you value more than power."

Silence.

Heavy.

Unavoidable.

Advik looked directly at Meera.

"You."

Meera's breath caught.

Kabir didn't move.

But something inside him hardened.

"You think I'll choose?" Kabir asked quietly.

Advik smiled.

"I don't think."

A pause.

"I know."

Outside, distant explosions still echoed.

The war wasn't over.

It was just shifting.

Meera whispered softly,

"Kabir…"

He didn't look away from Advik.

But his voice softened only for her.

"Stay behind me."

Advik stepped back slightly.

"This is the moment," he said.

"The mafia boss finally decides what matters more."

Kabir's eyes darkened completely.

And for the first time…

there was no hesitation in him.

Only truth.

"I already decided," Kabir said quietly.

A pause.

"And you were never part of it."

Advik's smile faded slightly.

Meera looked up at Kabir in shock.

But Kabir tightened his hold on her hand.

And added—

"You were the reason I stopped choosing between life and death…"

A pause.

"…because I started choosing you."

Silence exploded between them.

And for the first time…

Meera realized the war was no longer about survival.

It was about who Kabir would destroy to keep her.

To be continued… 💔
