Chapter 20
Aenzil and Nemisis entered the Nexus room, where everyone was seated around a round table. At the center was a holographic representation of a planetary system different from the solar system.
Seated at the head of the table was the Queen. Beside her was an empty seat, the other seats were filled by Kuto, Aria, Tezuka, Clara, Lilith and a new face. Aenzil sat at the empty seat by the Queen, Nemisis sat by Kuto.
"Now that everyone is here, shall we begin?" Kuto looked at the Queen who gave a slight nod. "Well then, I have summoned all of you here to lay some news."
He looked around.
"For over thousands of years, the Kingdom of Fantasy City has been without Supreme Lieutenant due to the Prescence of the Xercise and Engill family who later joined through the union of my son Xenon, and Apenxy. I would like to state that it ends today. Sir Maxwell will be the new Supreme Lieutenant of the kingdom."
The new face stood up and gave a slight bow, "I am honored, and I shall dedicate my life to the Kingdom as you did."
"You may take your seat," Kuto said. "As some of us may know, we Xercise are destined to die... no... that doesn't sound right.
I mean we return to our source of power, a deal made by my ancestors along time ago in search of power. Yesterday was my nine hundred and ninety nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety ninth birthday, the limit of a Xercise.
But as I leave I leave behind my grandson, Nemisis to take my place as the protector of this Kingdom, to continue the promise of my father. Although I will send him on a journey, to complete my final request from him.
He shall still be considered a reliable ally to the people and the Kingdom."
Kuto paused, looking around the room.
"And I know that the Octo Phoenix will be there to help its people."
He took his seat. The Queen turned to Aenzil, who hesitated for a moment before getting on her feet.
"On behalf of the people, and the Kingdom, I would like to thank you for your great service, although e wished it could have lasted... I also want to thank you for the time you've been there for me after the incident." A tear ran down her cheek. "I... I... I..."
More tears ran down, Kuto stood up, he slowly walked towards Aenzil and hugged her, stroking her hair gently. Nemisis watched silently, for it was a feeling he had felt before, on the day of his mother's death.
Later in the evening at the Castle pond, Nemisis and Kuto sat on a bench. A gentle breeze blew across the pond, causing ripples on the water's surface.
"My last request..." Kuto begun. "My last request is for you to find the Ninth Daimon."
"The Ninth Daimon?" Nemisis repeated.
"Yes, the Ninth Diamon, I know of your current situation, you can't transform. Although that isn't necessary because you still have the power to fight. Your transformations are just a means for you to control your energy out put instead of a power up."
"Are you trying to say without that I could lose control?" Nemisis asked.
"No, I can't imagine you losing control, not yet. It places a strain on your body, crates a crack, you don't lose control for there is nothing there in the first place. Instead I want you to be able to face him when the time is right for he is..."
Nemisis stared eagerly, "He is what?"
"You will find out." Kuto replied
"What the fuck is this suspense" Nemisis said, frustrated as he stared in the air, as if looking into your soul.
Kuto gave a gentle laugh, "Tomorrow, you will begin your journey. Go to the Kingdom of Aurora, and don't worry, they will be expecting you."
Kuto stared at the moon, "Isn't she beautiful?"
Nemisis looked at him and saw that he was slowly disintegrating.
"Old man..."
"Hush little one, don't spoil my last moment," a faint smile formed on his face.
Nemisis smiled and stared at the moon, "Indeed she is."
By the window side stood Aenzil, who quietly stared at them.
The next day, Nemisis stood before the queen and Aenzil.
"Always remember that this place will always be a home to you, I wish you good luck on your journey." the Queen said. "I don't know if I should say this but, may T#@ $%##&@ be with you for he is the god of your people. And in the name of the Octo-Phoenix apologies if I might have said something Is shouldn't right now."
Nemisis smiled, then gave a slight bow.
"C'mon," Aenzil said. "I shall escort you to the Kingdom gates."
At the Kingdom gates, Clara and Tezuka were already there waiting for the arrival of Nemisis and Aenzil.
"You are here at last," Tezuka said. "I am sorry for what happened to your grandfather I want you to know we are gonna stand by your side."
"Even though it has been half a year since I joined your squad, I am also willing to help for this is now my home." Clara added.
Aenzil placed a little wrapped cloth in Nemisis's hand, "Take care of it and promise me you won't die out there."
"Don't worry," Nemisis placed it in his pocket. "I think I have gotten a hang of how things work in this universe. And besides I got Lilith to accompany me."
Just then a strand of light shot out the diamond and landed beside him, turning into Lilith.
"You can count on me." Lilith said.
"Turns out the Oldman told her to help me around." Nemisis said.
"Alright, take care." Aenzil said.
"Young Gnario." Nemisis called.
A strand of light shot from his chest and landed further from them turning into a red dragon. Lilith and Nemisis hopped on top of its head.
"Remember my promise." he said.
The dragon took off, particles of dust drifted the air. They headed west, towards the setting sun. Aenzil watched until they were nothing but a blurry dot in the sky.
[ In the dark void exists a being.
But don't be fooled-
For this being is the void itself...
and beyond even that.
The darkness is merely its presence.
Then-
a bloody red eye opened.
