Chapter 16 - Episode 16: “When the Gangster Chooses Love Over Power”

The mansion was no longer just under attack.

It was collapsing emotionally from within.

Aanya stood still after Rudra's words.

"I care when you are in danger."

"That is my weakness."

For the first time… Rudra Rathore didn't look like a gangster.

He looked like a man standing at a point of no return.

Another explosion shook the outer wall.

The lights flickered again.

Red emergency lights turned everything into shadows.

Rudra grabbed Aanya's hand.

Firm.

Final.

Not aggressive.

Protective.

"We're leaving," he said.

Aanya froze.

"Leaving? But your people—your house—"

Rudra interrupted.

"Nothing matters if you are not safe."

Silence.

That sentence hit harder than any bullet outside.

Aanya looked at him.

"You're abandoning everything?"

Rudra turned slightly.

His eyes were steady.

"No."

A pause.

"I'm choosing what matters."

For a second… the world outside disappeared.

Only them remained.

Riya's voice suddenly echoed again through the speakers.

But now it was different.

Low.

Sharp.

Almost broken.

"You can run, Rudra…"

A pause.

"But you cannot hide what you are feeling."

Aanya looked up instantly.

Rudra didn't react.

But his grip tightened slightly.

Outside, Riya stood in the smoke.

Her expression wasn't fully confident anymore.

Something inside her plan was slipping.

Because Rudra wasn't reacting like before.

He wasn't negotiating.

He wasn't hesitating.

He was choosing.

Inside the mansion, Rudra pulled Aanya toward a hidden exit.

Fast.

Controlled.

"Why are you doing this?" Aanya asked breathlessly.

Rudra didn't slow down.

"Because I have spent my whole life building power…"

A pause.

"And the first time I feel something real…"

His voice lowered.

"I refuse to lose it."

Aanya's heart tightened.

They reached a secret corridor.

Dark.

Quiet.

Safe—for now.

Aanya stopped suddenly.

Rudra turned back instantly.

"What?"

Aanya whispered,

"If we leave like this… everything ends."

Rudra stepped closer.

"No."

A pause.

"Everything changes."

Silence.

Aanya looked at him.

"But Riya—she won't stop."

Rudra's eyes darkened.

"She already lost."

Aanya frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Rudra finally said it clearly.

Calm.

Cold.

Final.

"She thought she was fighting for me."

A pause.

"But I was never something she could own."

He stepped closer.

And this time… there was no distance left.

"You," he said quietly,

"are the only thing I chose on my own."

Aanya froze completely.

For the first time…

there was no confusion in Rudra Rathore's voice.

No hesitation.

No war.

Only certainty.

Outside…

Riya watched the mansion gates slowly open.

She saw them.

Together.

Leaving.

And for the first time in her life…

Riya Verma realized something terrifying.

She didn't lose because Rudra was weak.

She lost because he finally became human.
