Chapter 8 - Episode 8: “The Moment He Chose Her Silence”

The mansion felt heavier than usual.

Not because of Riya.

Not because of Rudra Rathore.

But because something had finally shifted… silently.

Something no one could undo now.

Aanya Verma avoided looking at Rudra all morning.

But it didn't matter.

She could still feel him.

Everywhere.

In every corridor she walked through.

In every silence she tried to escape.

Riya noticed it immediately.

A small smile played on her lips.

Because fear… always reveals truth faster than words.

That afternoon, Rudra called Aanya to his office.

She hesitated before entering.

But she had no choice.

The door closed behind her.

Click.

Silence.

Rudra stood near the window, facing outside.

"Come closer," he said calmly.

Aanya obeyed slowly.

Her heart was already beating faster.

"You are avoiding me," he said without turning.

Aanya froze.

"I… I'm not, sir."

Rudra finally turned.

His eyes were sharper today.

But not angry.

Something different.

Something deeper.

"Then look at me," he said quietly.

Aanya slowly lifted her eyes.

And the moment she did…

she regretted it.

Because he was already watching her like he had been waiting too long.

Silence stretched.

Heavy. Uncomfortable. Real.

Then Rudra spoke.

"Riya is creating problems."

Aanya nodded quickly. "She doesn't mean harm—she just—"

"Stop defending her."

His voice cut through instantly.

Aanya went silent.

Rudra stepped closer.

Slow.

Controlled.

Dangerous.

Until the space between them disappeared again.

"You trust her too easily," he said.

Aanya whispered, "She is my sister…"

Rudra's eyes darkened slightly.

"And I am not your enemy."

That sentence hit harder than anything else.

Aanya looked up instantly.

Confused.

Shaken.

Rudra continued quietly.

"If I was your enemy… you wouldn't still be standing here."

Silence.

Aanya didn't know what to say.

Because deep down…

she knew he was right.

Outside the room…

Riya stood listening.

Her nails pressed into her palm.

Because she had heard enough.

Not words.

But tone.

That night…

Riya finally broke her calm.

She entered Aanya's room without knocking.

Aanya stood up immediately.

"Riya… what are you doing?"

Riya's expression was different now.

Cold. Focused. Sharp.

"I understand everything now," she said softly.

Aanya frowned. "What are you talking about?"

Riya stepped closer.

"He is not confused."

A pause.

"He is choosing."

Aanya shook her head.

"No… you're imagining things."

Riya smiled faintly.

"No, Aanya."

Her voice dropped.

"He chose you the moment he stopped treating you like everyone else."

Aanya's breath caught.

Riya leaned closer.

"And I will not lose to you."

Before Aanya could respond—

footsteps echoed outside.

Slow.

Heavy.

Controlled.

Rudra Rathore.

Standing at the door.

Watching both of them.

Silent.

Unreadable.

And in that moment…

Aanya realized something terrifying again.

Whatever was between them…

was no longer hidden.

It was now fully exposed.

And Rudra…

was finally deciding what it meant.
