Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Satan Should Get a Tattoo of the Golden finger on His Back

"If Shinjuku isn't captured, you know the consequences, right?"

In the plaza before the underground entrance of Sanguinem, Krul looked at Ferid with a fake smile.

Ferid was still wearing his white uniform and cape, with a red ribbon bowtie, red crystal earrings, and his long silver hair tied with a black bow, wearing black knee-high boots.

These were his everyday clothes, as well as his combat gear.

Ferid returned a bitter smile to Krul.

"Don't be so heartless, Lady Krul. Before I applied to lead the team, the goal was only to harass and pin down those loathsome Sorcerers; there was no requirement to capture Shinjuku."

Krul was unmoved and continued to smile.

"Since a Seventh Progenitor has been dispatched, capturing Shinjuku shouldn't be difficult for you."

Ferid shrugged helplessly.

"Ha~ then it shall be as you wish."

Krul stopped bickering with Ferid and looked at the five Upper-ranking Vampires and dozens of Lower-ranking Vampires in the plaza, ready for battle.

"Then, move out!"

The Vampires responded passionately one after another.

Krul gave Kyle a meaningful look, and Kyle nodded slightly to show he understood.

Kyle was originally the leader for this operation, responsible for interfering with the humans' recovery and scouting the progress of Cursed Gear development.

During the apocalypse, the early prototypes of Cursed Gear killed many Lower-ranking Vampires, and even an Upper-ranking Vampire was killed by humans.

This was an unacceptable reality for the immortal Vampires, so preparations had to be made early.

But since Ferid suddenly intervened, Kyle's mission changed to monitoring Ferid's every move.

Although Ferid was a Progenitor and could defeat countless Kyles, under normal combat conditions, Kyle would have no problem tracking his movements.

If Ferid's movements were lost despite Kyle's deliberate attention, it could only mean Ferid was intentionally avoiding the sight of the other Vampires.

And this situation would reflect that Ferid's purpose for going to Shinjuku this time was questionable... Inside Krul's palace.

Luke was lying lazily on Krul's throne, with an ordinary lollipop given by Miku in his mouth.

"Hmm, Shinjuku is so close to Shibuya, Mother Ferid should be meeting with Guren. Kyle didn't have a role in the original story, so he should be biting the dust in the next few years, or maybe I've caused a butterfly effect. I reckon things look grim for Kyle this time."

"Good luck to you; I'll miss that green hair of yours."

Luke pressed his hands together and closed his eyes in a prayer gesture.

"Is it comfortable sitting like that?"

"It's alright. Mostly because Lady Krul doesn't usually let me sit on her throne, so while she's away, any way I sit is com...for...table..."

Luke snapped his eyes open, only to see Krul's beautiful yet gloomy face.

"Lady Krul, why are you standing upside down?"

Krul sneered and stretched her neck without saying a word.

"Can you... not hit the face?"

Krul gave a kind smile, her fangs making Luke's skin crawl.

"Take a guess."

A series of screams echoed through the hall.

"Gently, Lady Krul! I won't sit like this next time!"

"Meaning you still intend to sit here?"

"No, what I mean is..."

...Shinjuku.

"Kyle, I'll give you one more chance. You'd better think carefully."

Ferid stepped on the wretched Kyle, speaking in a condescending tone.

Kyle spat disdainfully.

"Pah! Ferid, you bastard, you're actually colluding with humans!"

Ferid increased the pressure of his foot.

"Oh my, how harsh. I'm just making a deal with humans; my heart is still that of a Vampire, right, Guren?"

Ferid looked at Guren, who was wearing a military uniform, and asked.

"Hurry up and finish this guy off so we can discuss the next plan."

Ferid felt a bit disappointed.

"So devoid of romance. No girl will ever like you like this~"

Guren felt somewhat disgusted by Ferid's style.

Suppressing the urge to draw his sword, Guren said impatiently.

"If you're reluctant to do it, I will!"

As Guren was about to step forward, Ferid stopped him, his tone becoming somewhat flat.

"Hey, Guren-kun, this is a matter between us Vampires."

Guren felt the flamboyant Vampire before him change his aura; if he stepped forward now, he might face the other's claws and fangs.

Guren didn't step forward again, but his tone remained strong.

"What, want to pick a fight? I don't have time to waste here. If you don't settle this quickly, I'm leaving."

Ferid regained his smile.

"Understood, it'll be quick."

Ferid turned back to look at Kyle.

"Killing you outright would make me look like some piece of trash who slaughters his own kind. How about this: why don't I let you fall and become a demon? Aha~"

Before Kyle could say more, Ferid's right hand became a palm, and his claws ripped out Kyle's heart.

Kyle felt a wave of suffocation, and then demon markings gradually began to emerge all over his body.

"Ferid... you... damn you!"

Then Kyle's consciousness began to fade, and his eyes turned pitch black.

Ferid pulled out a handkerchief to wipe the blood from his hands, then smiled at Guren as if nothing had happened.

"Let's find another place to talk."

Guren was expressionless, his heart filled with contempt for Ferid.

To be able to strike down even his own kind, he was truly insane.

But considering some matters required Ferid's cooperation, Guren nodded and walked out of the alley on his own.

On the other hand, demon markings had already covered half of Kyle's face; once they spread across his entire body, he would become a mindless demon.

Even if he were sealed into a cursed gear, he wouldn't be able to retain most of his sanity like asuramaru.

Meanwhile, Luke was staring blankly at the light screen in front of him.

He had been beaten by Krul until he could barely walk. While he was pondering whether the chicken or the egg came first, the Golden finger light screen suddenly appeared before his eyes.

"Detected that an acquaintance of yours is undergoing Demon Transformation, and the Magic Sword lacks a Sword Spirit. Shall they be used to fill it?"

Kyle's photo was displayed next to this text.

Luke looked bewildered.

The guy is about to die, and you still think there's one last bit of value to squeeze out of him?

Satan should get a tattoo of you on his back, Golden finger.

As if detecting Luke's thoughts, a new segment of text appeared.

"You may resurrect the individual upon leaving this Sub-world."

Luke was stunned once again.

Then he thought, this shouldn't count as exploiting Kyle... right?

I'm doing it to resurrect him!

Right! My intentions are good; let's just ignore the process in between!

Luke responded tentatively.

"Fill?"

The light screen flashed, and a keyboard appeared.

"What the heck? Movement is WASD, normal attack is J, and jump is space?! So many keys for skills?!"

A prompt appeared on the light screen again.

"To improve your compatibility with the Sword Spirit, and having detected a medium-scale battle near its physical body, the Golden finger will recall the Sword Spirit's consciousness. The Agent will control its demonized body for one hour of continuous combat."

Luke exclaimed directly.

"Whoa! This is so exciting?! Now this is a freaking AAA masterpiece!"
