Lirien's POV
It was a quiet evening a few days after the gala.
We were curled up together on the couch, watching a light romantic comedy on the TV. The apartment lights were dimmed, and Vael's arm was wrapped securely around my shoulders. My head rested on his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart while the movie played in the background.
I hadn't been able to stop thinking about Davis's proposal since that night.
The idea had lingered in my mind, confusing, thrilling, and terrifying all at once. I had told Vael I would think about it, and I had. For days.
Tonight, I finally knew my answer.
I shifted slightly so I could look up at him. Vael noticed immediately and paused the movie, turning his full attention to me.
"What is it?" he asked gently, brushing a strand of hair from my face.
I took a deep breath, my heart beating fast.
"I've been thinking about what Davis offered," I said softly. "About… being with both of you."
