Benedict's POV
The head elder's commanding voice sliced through the restless murmur of the gathered crowd.
"Alpha Benedict Vance. The charges have been presented to you in full. State your response to this court."
I remained motionless, hands relaxed at my sides. Genevieve's healing energy still pulsed warmly through my chest cavity. My fingernails had regained their natural shade. The persistent trembling had vanished completely. I felt grounded once more. Powerful enough to execute what had to be done.
"Not guilty," I declared. My words resonated clearly throughout the expansive chamber. "To each and every accusation."
Elder Ulric gave a single, measured nod.
"You will be granted the chance to defend yourself against the evidence presented today." He gestured broadly toward the spectator section. "We shall commence with those who have stepped forward as witnesses."
