Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

January 5, 2013

Hotel Room

"I really needed this," Kendall sighed satisfied.

After several hours both ended up tired and curled up in bed with Kendall leaning her head lazily on Wyatt's chest while she had a leg over his abdomen in deep calm.

Wyatt instead had his arm around her while his hand gave her light caresses on the back humming in response demonstrating that he was paying attention to her "I hope I met the expectations," Wyatt said winning a giggle from her.

"Believe me you did," Kendall told him, adjusting herself a bit more to remain in a comfortable silence inside the room.

As the minutes passed Kendall took one of the sheets from the bed and stood up going in the direction toward the bathroom until something on the table made her stop.

"So this is the MVP trophy," Kendall said holding in her hand the trophy which was completely silver with a ball on top over a circular base with the inscription:

"MVP Under-armour all American 2013 Wyatt Sterling" in large black letters.

"That's the one," Wyatt said, he was still lying in bed and seeing how Kendall's gaze was placed on the trophy evaluating every detail of it.

"It's nice," Kendall said leaving the trophy in its place while little by little she started looking for her dress and heels.

"Are you leaving already?" Wyatt asked curious seeing her pick up her garments. "Do you want me to stay?" Kendall asked curious seeing how he just stayed there watching her.

"I thought we could repeat one more round," Wyatt said while patting the side of the bed in a clear invitation.

"We did it 4 times," was Kendall's only response remembering how she had spent the last 5 hours "But I know you liked it," Wyatt said with smugness while Kendall simply stayed quiet without being able to refute that.

Weighing her options Kendall simply placed her garments on one of the desk chairs while throwing the sheet and reunited with Wyatt in bed initiating another session of kisses.

"I want you to know that this is something casual," Kendall told him separating slightly while giving him a significant look.

"No problems," Wyatt responded returning to claim Kendall's mouth changing positions being him on top of her while Kendall surrounded his neck with her arms deepening the kiss both letting themselves be carried away by passion.

10:00 AM

The rays of the morning sun entered through the large window of the hotel room falling right over Wyatt's face who instinctively brought his hand to his face trying to prevent the rays from reaching his face.

Turning slightly over the mattress of the bed Wyatt changed position to avoid the sun rays while his hand instinctively searched for the body of his companion from last night.

Passing his hands all over the bed and not feeling the heat of another body in it Wyatt opened an eye seeking to find the clump of black hair of Kendall but all he found was nothing.

"Seems like she's gone already," Wyatt said to himself while he stood up picking up the underwear that was nearby and stretched his body and it is that after a physically demanding game plus the activity from last night his body was not at 100%.

Heading toward the table of the room Wyatt saw a paper right next to his MVP trophy.

"I enjoyed last night hope to repeat it some day K." đź’‹

Below the note written in Kendall's neat handwriting there was a kiss from lipstick which won a smile from Wyatt.

While his mind reminisced about last night his stomach growled in a clear sign that he needed food "I hope the buffet is still open," Wyatt thought going directly to the bathroom to take a shower and go down to the hotel lobby.

20 minutes later

Once the elevator reached the lobby floor Wyatt went immediately toward the corner where the hotel restaurant was located thanking that the buffet was still open so without wasting time he took a plate and started serving himself all the food he could.

Eggs, sausages, bacon, waffles Wyatt served himself all the food that was in the buffet before searching for an empty seat in which to sit and begin to devour all the food he had in front of him without raising his head at any moment.

Without noticing he immediately felt how the chair next to him moved and a person sat down so raising his sight Wyatt found himself in front of Steve Mariucci who had been his coach in the game from yesterday.

"Coach," Wyatt said immediately finishing swallowing the food in his mouth in the direction of the man who was in front of him.

"Please boy I was your coach only for yesterday you can call me Steve," Coach Mariucci said with a friendly smile in direction toward him.

"Only if you call me Wyatt," Wyatt told him leaving aside the formalisms between both "Is there something you need?" Wyatt asked curious about finding the coach there.

"I'm simply waiting for the car to come that takes me home," Steve Mariucci said giving light pats to the suitcase that was at his side "Originally I wanted to talk to you last night but I looked for you and it seems you had disappeared," Steve said making Wyatt only put on a smile.

"I was simply very tired," Wyatt lied blatantly justifying his absence in most of the event.

"It's understandable after a game like yesterday's," Coach Mariucci praised remembering the touchdowns and the runs Wyatt made yesterday winning the MVP award indisputably without anyone against it.

"I simply did my job," Wyatt said seriously since for him it doesn't matter if it is an exhibition game or a tournament one he always went out to the field with the only objective of winning the game and taking his team to victory.

At the vision of Wyatt's serious gaze an almost imperceptible smile appeared on Steve's face and it is that he rarely met someone who was in Wyatt's situation who had the same hunger for victory.

And it is that usually if you are the number 1 prospect you become someone complacent concerned more with parties and going out with girls believing that you already have life secured and that the next step is simply becoming professional and winning millions.

But reality gives them a strong blow the pressures of the press, from the fans from the coaches very few people have the mental strength enough to endure that kind of environment without having slumps.

Let's take the number 1 prospect from the last class Mario Edwards Jr a big strong and fast reaction Defensive End last year he chose to play for the seminoles of Florida State University.

In his freshman year of 14 games he ended up playing only 10 games averaging only 8 tackles in the whole season numbers that were not what were expected of the one who was the best defensive player of his class.

Of course there was also the factor that he had not yet adapted to the level of play of the NCAA and played as a defensive tackler but even so people little by little were forgetting about him so now in his second year he had to improve if he wanted to improve his visibility for the league.

Shaking his head so as not to wander from the topic Steve immediately returned to address Wyatt "Can I give you some advice?" he asked while Wyatt simply nodded in consequence more concentrated on the content inside his plate.

"Stay focused the NCAA has no point of comparison with high school football and not to mention the NFL," Steve began with a serious tone "It can be seen that you have talent if you ask me you are the player with the most talent that I saw," that simple comment made Wyatt have a smile of sufficiency "But," Steve said without letting Wyatt stay completely complacent.

"Talent without hard work will not take you very far especially because of your playing style," that comment made Wyatt frown without understanding what the coach who was in front of him wanted to tell him.

"Don't take it the wrong way I know you are the best dual threat there is since Cam Newton," Steve said before Wyatt took it completely the wrong way "But do you really think you will be able to run like you do now when you are 30 years old?" was the next question he threw at him.

At that Wyatt did not know what to respond after all he had always trusted his speed to be able to escape before being sacked and gain some yards for his team but the question was if he could be just as fast when he is 30 years old as now.

A bad injury and it could put an end to his career after all American football was also one of the most brutal sports in the whole world due to the tackles and concussions that were lived day to day in the games.

"I'm not saying don't run I'm simply saying that you think more about the future," Steve said while he raised his sight and saw how the driver had arrived who would take him to the airport "Well I think they came for me," he told Wyatt while he stood up and took his suitcase.

"Think about what I said yes and I hope to see you in 3 years stepping on the NFL," was the last comment he made to Wyatt while he turned around and handed the suitcase to the driver while he left through the door heading to the car that waited for him.

As soon as Coach Steve Mariucci left Wyatt fell into a deep silence and reflection thinking about the last words he had said to him while he briefly set aside the food.

Wanting to distract himself briefly from that he pulled out his phone and opened Twitter seeing some Tweets until he saw a thread that talked about the all-american game from yesterday.

@Olise: I saw yesterday the best performance that a high school quarterback can offer Wyatt Sterling you are not from this planet #underarmour #allamerican#football#Nfl

@Jfl: man that touchdown he made together with Laquon Treadwell was spectacular just remembering it makes my skin crawl #WyattSterling #all american

@emmy: did someone else see Wyatt's face while being concentrated on the field god he is so sexy #underarmour #love #Wyatt Sterling

Reading those tweets effectively caused Wyatt to laugh and forget for a moment the thoughts he had about the words Coach Mariucci told him before.

Opening Instagram Wyatt decided to publish a photo in which he appeared still with his white uniform of the all-american team and the MVP trophy in the center looking with a smile in front of the camera.

Below the photo he put the following inscription "New trophy for the showcase this is only the beginning of what is coming" #football #Nfl #allamerican #underarmour

Pressing the publish button it was immediately reposted and received several hearts along with comments from friends and fans.

@Clemsonfootball: This is only the beginning.

@Esterling: my boy is already a full man ❤️❤️❤️

The comment from his mother drew a smile from him imagining her probably in the middle of the living room with Max at her side wagging his tail at her.

What followed that was a comment he did not expect to receive and that caused an even greater chaos in the publication.

Kendalljenner : Great game yesterday @SterlingW I enjoyed watching it very much.

The reaction after that comment was not long in coming with several of Kendall's fans commenting on her comment in Wyatt's publication while they investigated who he was and from where he knew Kendall.

Such was the reaction that Wyatt for the first time knew what it really meant to be famous so immediately before his phone exploded he silenced the Instagram notifications while putting the phone to one side as if fearing it was going to explode at some moment.

So the day passed resting without leaving the hotel spending his last hours in Florida before having to take his flight toward South Carolina in which the Clemson team would be waiting for him for his signing and to know the facilities of where his team will be the next 3 years.
