He sat cross-legged on the bed, the beast curled against his thigh, its warmth seeping through the blanket. Twist was perched on the headboard, his neck coiled into a shape that resembled a knot, his golden eyes half-closed. Iron had wedged himself between the footboard and the wall, his round sides rising and falling with the slow rhythm of sleep.
The room was quiet. The manor was quiet. The bond hummed, low and patient, a reminder that Lysander was near.
Kaelen dismissed the bond with a thought and focused on the interface floating before his eyes.
