The world did not feel like a place.
It felt like a boundary had been crossed—one that was never meant to be crossed.
Kael stepped forward first.
The moment his foot touched the ground, the air shifted. Not violently. Not visibly. But in a way that made everything feel slightly misaligned, as if reality had adjusted itself to his presence.
His eyes narrowed.
"…This place is not natural," he said quietly.
Behind him, Riven landed with a light step, scanning the surroundings with an annoyed expression.
"…Yeah," Riven muttered. "I can already tell this place is going to be a problem."
He looked around casually, hands in his pockets, trying to hide the fact that even he felt it—the pressure. Not physical, but something deeper. Like the space itself was watching them.
Elara arrived last.
She didn't land like the others. She simply appeared, as if the world had accepted her existence a second later than it should have.
Her eyes flickered faintly.
"…This isn't a world," she whispered. "It's a system."
Kael didn't respond immediately. His hand was already near his weapon, not drawn, but ready. Not because of enemies he could see—but because of instinct.
Something here was wrong.
Then it happened.
Silence.
Not the absence of sound—but the removal of expectation itself.
And then—
a voice.
Not from above. Not from below.
From everywhere.
"Eclipse System Detection Confirmed."
Riven blinked once.
"…Okay. That's creepy."
Kael's gaze sharpened.
"…Stay alert."
Elara didn't move. Her expression changed slightly, as if she was listening to something no one else could hear.
Then the voice continued.
"Anomalies identified."
"Kael — unstable authority signature."
"Riven — unpredictable behavioral deviation."
"Elara — missing origin record."
A pause followed.
A heavy one.
Then—
"Threat classification initiated."
The ground beneath them responded instantly.
Black lines spread outward in a circular formation, carving symbols into reality itself. The air vibrated. Not shaking—but rewriting.
Riven took a slow step back.
"…We just got labeled as threats the moment we arrived," he said. "That's impressive efficiency."
Kael ignored him.
"…This is a controlled domain," he said. "Not a normal dimension."
Elara looked down at the markings beneath her feet.
"…No," she corrected softly. "We are inside something that controls dimensions."
That statement changed the atmosphere.
Even Riven stopped joking for a moment.
Above them, the sky fractured.
Not breaking apart.
Reassembling into something new.
Like a system updating itself in real time.
And somewhere beyond sight—
something noticed them noticing it.
"First response units deploying."
The ground cracked open.
From the darkness below, figures began to rise.
Not fully human. Not fully formed. They looked like incomplete concepts given shape—armored silhouettes with no clear identity, only purpose.
Riven sighed.
"…Of course. First five minutes and we already have company."
Kael stepped forward.
Calm.
Controlled.
Focused.
"…We don't retreat," he said.
Riven smirked slightly.
"…I wasn't planning to. I was just complaining professionally."
Elara remained still for a moment longer than necessary. Then she followed Kael's movement without question.
One step behind him.
Like instinct.
The first Eclipse unit fully formed.
Its head tilted slightly.
And then—
it moved.
Kael reacted instantly. His hand finally drew his weapon in a smooth motion, the air around him tightening as pressure built around his stance.
Riven shifted to the side, grin fading into focus.
"…Alright then," he said quietly. "Let's see what this place is made of."
Elara's eyes flickered again.
And for a fraction of a second—
the Eclipse symbol beneath them responded to her presence differently.
Almost… hesitating.
But no one noticed it fully.
Not yet.
The battle was about to begin.
And somewhere far above this layer of reality—
a distant system log updated silently.
"Subject Kael detected again."
"Vireon protocol notification: SENT."
